LIV events would benefit from being able to have better players in their fields, it’s the same argument I’m using to question why the DPWT and PGAT have intentionally weakened theirs so why would I argue against it?
Although their model isn’t to have full qualification (because they are trying to be different) I do think there should be more opportunities to qualify - maybe one place per team, per event?

So lets get this right, if DPWT lose their case next week, rather than coming on here and shouting from the roof tops, you'll be here arguing for LiV to reciprocate, I won't hold be breath.

PS You do now understand why the DPWT feel and need to suspend LiV players membership.

As you say, they can do what they like. If they are trying to be different, they could fundamentally adapt the rules of golf to allow them some whacky formats. If they aim to entertain, and it gets in loads of viewers, then I guess it is really up to them what they thinks will work.

But, whatever they decide to do, also in terms of qualification, will have a direct impact on how that fits in with being awarded world ranking points. That isn't really for any of us to decide within the golf monthly format. But, presumably the guidelines they have to meet needs to be pretty consistent with what happens in other professional tours. If LIV opens up qualification to 25% of the field, is that going to tick the qualification box for the people in charge of world rankings? I doubt it. I'm not sure of any other tour in which all their events are invite only to 75% of the golfers?

Also, let us say 1 person could qualify per event per team. What happens in the next event? Are 75% of the entire field safe, and the 25% of the field that qualified last time the ones that risk losing their place for the next event? Seems harsh if most of the 25% finished high up the individual leaderboard, only for many to lose their place whilst Westwood and Poulter keep their place, despite finishing rock bottom of the leaderboard.

As the team element develops, the teams will have to play the strongest team they can, within whatever rules LIV have in place.
Westwood, Poulter, Bubba, Phil - they’ll all adapt senior positions which may well be non playing. There will be players join the series for the coming season that displace existing players - that’s how it worked last year and that’s how it will work going forwards.

Check my posts - I’ve always argued it should be two way street between the tours and LIV, so don’t hold your breath ;-)

Sorry, really can you point to one post where you offered any critism of LiV in that repect, I am certaily not going to check you 1,000's of posts to find the one.

Its not a criticism of LIV to suggest that the players should be able to play wherever they want (around the LIV schedule)- its exactly what Greg Norman banged on about for months... Independent contractors etc etc

Can independent contractors work wherever they want now?
Maybe one of the LiV supporters who believe this is the case, should try it in their line of work and let us know how they get on!

So I’m guessing that means the ET and PGA tour players can just pop across and play the odd LIV event ?

So next then is - how can they do it ?

That's not the point I am making, where is the critism of LiV for their events not being open, when essentailly that is what LiV players are expecting of the other tours.

How can they be ‘open’ when the players who would potentially play would then get banned by their own tours?
My view, which I’ve stated before on here, is that LIV wanted to work a reciprocal arrangement with the tours to allow players to switch back and forth, but that was prevented by the tours.

Something similar to what we’ve seen with the Asian Tour, but obviously with higher calibre golfers.

which players did LiV want to allow to switch back and forth ? Does that mean LIV would allow any ET or PGA tour to pick and chose any event they wanted to play ?

Pretty sure we've had this discussion (probably several times) already Phillip.

Apologies can’t recall ?

If liv wanted players to go back and forth does that mean that it was just the LIV players that they contract that would be allowed to play in the LIV events ( and have to play every event )

But LIV was more than willing to let players play on another tour not under their control ?‍♂️ that seems pretty generous of them

I’m just staggered that the other tours didn’t allow LIV to dictate what they should allow.

LiV is a closed invite tour

All the other tours have routes for every single player to enter and qualify for a full tour card or even just a single event

How can players “switch back and forth” when one is a closed tour

Jesus. I literally made the point a few posts back that LIV is a closed tour because of the circumstances placed on the players by the PGAT and the DPWT.

How many players have gone back and forth with the Asian Tour where they have an agreement in place to allow them to do that?

You know I've made this point before, and you're being purposefully obtuse Phil, but just to be clear (again), if JM had picked up the phone from Greg Norman well before a ball was struck, there could have been a reciprocal agreement in place for players to move between the tours. I'd guess the teams would have had contracted players, the ones who now own a stake in the teams, Cam, Phil, DJ etc, these guys are essential to the business model. But there's absolutely no reason why plenty of other players couldn't have had an opportunity to play in selected LIV events. Yes that would have taken some of those players away from the PGAT, but aside from the Canadian Open in the beta year, there were no events that LIV held, that would have substantially depleted the field on the PGAT - so the notion that GN is a disruptor and wants to ruin the PGAT - if that's the case, he's absolutely bobbins at it.

Please don't ask me any more questions I've already answered, because I'm off to walk the dogs, then I'm off to the pub. Good evening.
