Kuch 3rd time around!

He's only paying what any decent person would have paid to begin with, all the pundits on tv are in agreement he should have paid more. He was trying to be tight and it's come back to bite him, lesson learnt for him I feel

Trial by media.

Is the amount requested 50k? Have little sympathy for kuch in that he obv was a little tight, but have also said that a deal is a deal. I’d be surprised if the caddy gets anymore high profile work.

He's had a win and a top 10. Even as a lucky charm he's worth a punt. Haha

Poor old kuch, getting very little sympathy from the pundits on sky.

Clearly a sponsor driven decision, and love the fact he is now being made to throw a few extra pesos to local charities to really stick the boot in. Serves him right, should’ve done right by the guy in the first place.

As for him working again, why wouldn’t you?

He has a good strike rate, a great record, has been described as a lucky charm and you will guarantee the crowd being on your side. Combine this with the fact you know his going rate, and that he is happy to accept less than the standard 5% bonus should you win. Everyone’s a winner baby!

Question; if this caddie was so material to Kuchar's win, & has such faith in his own ability to assist Kuchar, why did he only get an agreement up to a top 10 finish, but not agree a win bonus beforehand...?

Kuchars statement above proves that he was out of order and has now made a bad PR situation even worse IMO.

He would have been better off settling the matter privately, that way making a goodwill gesture instead of more or less admitting guilt publicly.

He should have stuck to his original stance but paid the money anyway.

Forced by the hand that feeds him? I wouldn’t say it was his sponsors either, I would think the PGA tour after last nights coverage pulled him to one side and told him to sort it out. They are very quick to jump on negative media.

I reckon if Ortiz had handled this a bit different, he'd be guaranteed a pro bag in this years event, now id be amazed if anyone goes near him.

And yet despite that tour players regularly make that arrangement with their regular caddies.

They are usually contracted on to the bag hence they know the deal when they take the bag. I spoke with a former caddy of Edberg and Fasth the other day and his deal was always 8% and 10% win plus his weekly fee.

I saw threads and petitions on some American sites wanting people to boycott Bridgestone!!!!

It's an absolute car crash created by one and only one person. He's handled it extremely poorly or has been advised very poorly. Even the $15k shut up payment that was rejected was poorly handled.

Good for Ortiz not blinking.

Also reading that statement of Kuch it looks like Mayakoba have had a big influence.

Did they threaten to pull their sponsorship? Did they tell Kuch he wasn't wanted or welcome to come back and defend his title.

Guess we'll never know.

Why wouldn't they, they know they can have him for half the price if they win

because he has moaned about earning $5k, knocked back an extra $15k and managed to get Kuchar to blink and cough up $50k for fear of further bad publicity.

As has been mentioned here, the guys agreed to the deal, he got paid $5k (more than they agreed) and there were dozens of guys at the course that could have done the same / similar job.

Does anyone work for a company who gives them a substantial bonus of several months salary when they make a big profit? You might get a bonus, but it will be performance related and will be all agreed in advance. Ortiz knew the deal and he didn't try to bargain with Kuch because it was still a sweet deal for him.

Like I said, there's too many bad omens for any Tour Pros to go near this guy in the next event.

Yes and there was little or no support for those "petitions".

Neither party emerges with any great credit.

Kuchar is clearly hard nosed and "careful" with his money.

The caddie is a greedy hustler.
