How often per round do you pull the chief

In my 60 years of golf I've met a few arrogant pricks like Hank. I avoid them like the plague. I have also got to know a lot of really good golfers, better than I would imagine Hank would have us believe he is. The majority of them have been genuine, modest people, willing to pass on their knowledge to lesser players. Two of the players I grew up with were happy to play with me when I was off 20. One was a multiple club champion, the other went on to win the Dutch Open.

What don't you go off, Hank, & start an elite golfers' forum. Don't bother sending me an invite.

but surely if he was starting an elite golfers forum, you would only get an invite if you where an elite player?

Never ever take driver - it's just too risky. You might even hit a fairway and have fun... just don't do it.

All so easy to say now, after having a shocker off the tee in the club champs... LOL

Interesting read this thread, after reading the fist few page's and seeing that most of all the really high handicap players dont use driver to much you got to question the rest of their game. Maybe you should hit the range with the driver coz the rest of your game must stink, learn how to hit and control the driver and it should help lower your scores.

Interesting read this thread; semi-colon after reading the first spelling few page's no apostrophe for plurals! and seeing that most of (all) unnecessary 'all' the really high handicap players dont don't use driver to (to) much, comma you have got to question the rest of their game. Maybe you should hit the range with the driver coz because (lazy) the rest of your game must stink; semi-colon learn how to hit and control the driver and it should help lower your scores.

see me after class.

Driver 16 times , usually followed by at least one 3 wood :D, then a selection irons ranging from 5 to lob wedge, next probably a long single putt from just short of the green for a 5 net 4 :o.

I don't care a jot
Come and play me for money sometime Hank

Around 6 times, could be a couple more depending on a favorable wind direction. Basically my driving game can be broken down as follows but it's all around the wind direction and generally what I feel comfy with on the day:

300 - 350 yds - Crossover or 19° Hybrid
350 - 400 yds - Hybrid or 3 wood
420+ ish - generally a driver

I'm always thinking about what I can leave myself in (to make it easier as my GIR stats are a bit poor tbh), usually trying to leave 100 - 150yds as I practice these a lot. We've a couple of 400yd par fours which are actually easier leaving yourself a straight 180 yds in rather than 'pulling the chief' and flirting with some large oaks and trying to go over/around them or underneath with some kind of punched shot.

Really enjoying my M2 hybrid at the moment, generally goes around 220 which makes all but the toughest par 4's quite simple and saves me chopping out of the cabbage after pulling a driver. Temptation too often gets the better of me though... :o

On every hole apart from the 4 par 3's. It's much more reliable and straighter than any other club in the bag. If i had to hit a fairway for my life with say a 150 carry to make it i'd take a driver every single time.
