How often per round do you pull the chief

Interesting read this thread, after reading the fist few page's and seeing that most of all the really high handicap players dont use driver to much you got to question the rest of their game. Maybe you should hit the range with the driver coz the rest of your game must stink, learn how to hit and control the driver and it should help lower your scores.

Well, if there's any kind of sense or logic in that statement, then I'll take a knife and fork to my hat ...

Use driver on either 3 or 4 holes at my course depending on wind. 3 wood on 2 or 3 others, and irons off th rest. Only because my course is very short and tight.

On other courses I definitely take irons off the tee much more than most, but it completely depends on the hole, length, amount of trouble/size of landing areas and distance to hazards/bunkers. Weigh up the risk/reward of hitting each club and make a decision!

Is it your putting or your iron play that is rank ?

Hank
Please stop having a pop at players with less natural ability than you have.
Golf is for everyone, not just the elitist few.
Thank you

There's 15 or so par3/4s on my course and i tend to lose at least one ball off the tee with a wicked slice so it's 16/17 driver hits for me.

i don't hit my driver very far (200yards max). I don't have a three wood but probably wouldn't use it if i had it.

Every par 4 and 5. My driving is OK and I'm no better with my fairway wood of the tee anyway.

13 times. Only use other clubs on the four Par 3s and a dogleg Par 4.

Reason is that I am more likely to be in play with my driver than 3-wood or hybrids. Need to practice these.

Or maybe driver isn't the play on most of the holes on our courses. Course management is probably better to lower scores instead of being 20 yards further up.

In my 60 years of golf I've met a few arrogant pricks like Hank. I avoid them like the plague. I have also got to know a lot of really good golfers, better than I would imagine Hank would have us believe he is. The majority of them have been genuine, modest people, willing to pass on their knowledge to lesser players. Two of the players I grew up with were happy to play with me when I was off 20. One was a multiple club champion, the other went on to win the Dutch Open.

What don't you go off, Hank, & start an elite golfers' forum. Don't bother sending me an invite.

I don't use a driver. Gets me into trouble so I use a 3 wood instead.
I often play for position off the tee instead of distance as I don't mind hitting long irons into greens.
