Do you still practice during the winter or off-season?

I know longer practice due to age and injury .
When a lot younger my winter practice was the same as my summer practice - anytime, any place, anywhere, as much as I could get in, outdoor as much as possible with the only indoor being chipping and putting on the lounge carpet.

I go to the golf studio at my club twice a week for a 2 hour session on Trackman. Usually spend the first hour working on something (speed training, swing tweak, wedge launch and distance control etc) then the last hour I'll play a virtual course.

In the winter of 2013/2014 i practiced hard all winter, monthly lesson, 2-3 range sessions a week plus weekend golf. Practice would be drills, wedge distances … just me, a beanie and a travel cup full of coffee in the freezing cold. coincidently had my best year in 2014.

Have committed the same since and again by coincidence I’ve never played as well.

Light bulb!!!!!

Is that all? What an image. 😧

It seems to me that many of you are putting in the practice through the winter months. Currently I am playing twice a week, but my only practice is short game chipping in my garden. I used to be a regular at the local range, but my enthusiasm appears to have waned. I still enjoy golf (in my seventies now), but I find that the social aspect almost as important, although, in addition, I am measuring my golf performance against my advancing years.
For a real fitness test, I find competing on my off road motorcycle is the answer!

My wife does pilates at St Pierre on Thursdays, so it's a good excuse for me to drop her there and use tge range. Did so this morning and spent an hour hitting balls wity tge rain banging against the roof.

Otherwise I get a bit lazy in the winter and stay home. Need to spend more winters overseas!

That’s commitment — to golf and romance!

Off-topic, but have you ever tried a rangefinder? Would a stabilization feature be useful for you?

I practice more through winter than summer. During summer I don’t practice at all, I just play twice a week.

I don't play much or practice at all in the winter. When I do play it is carry only and so I leave the rangefinder at home to lighten the bag a little.

When I go for other walks in the winter, I take my rangefinder with me in order to practice with it.
"That deer is 208 yards away." etc.

;);)

I’ve not been out on the course since the 2nd January but I have been on the range every Saturday and Sunday working mainly on my wedges. I’ve also been putting in some short game work. Got some putting coaching courtesy of the county in a few weekends time. Also got my putting mat out in the back room for some pre season practice.
