How do/did you sign in for your club competitions?

I'm talking about the annual comps as well as your monthly medals (not the KOs).

Do you have to register before the comp starts, or can you just rock up on the day? When does your booking window close? Is it different between the monthly comps and the annuals?

And how does your committee decide the draw and publish the start sheet?

Pre-Covid we used to just turn up and write our name on the sign-in sheet for the standard comps. Annual ones if you had to play in club times you'd generally just let the Club Sec know in advance that you were playing so he can group people.

Nowadays the latter part of that is the same but there's no sign-in sheet anymore, we sign in on Howdidido before playing and enter our scores on there at the end.

It’s all done on IG

Comp opens 3 weeks before the competition

Regular medals/Stablefords you can pick yourself and 3 others

Board comps you just put in yourself

For the couple of drawn comps you enter in a time zone - the draw is done by IG as well

For the medals and stablefords you can play on the day after the set tee times providing you enter online first

Comp closed 5pm the day before

Annual Comps e.g. knockouts and Opens it is a mix of sign up online via the website and entry forms.
Some comps you pay extra (charity donation) to choose your own tee time.

Open start sheets are often decided by distance of travel for away players and we try to put players from the same club in adjacent tee slots. There is normally an option on the entry form for rough choice of tee time (early mid late).

Tee times are published online, on the notice board and (I believe) emailed to away entrants

Club knockouts random draw.

Club regular medals etc select your own tee time up to 8 days days in advance either sign up online, phone app or use the club PSI computer on the day or earlier . Early starters where the pro shop is not yet open when they tee off are allowed to sign in when they come in.

Pre-covid we had a block of tee times reserved for competition. Players would enter on a sheet on the noticeboard and a week before the comp was due to be played a committee member would do a draw which would then be published.

Post-covid players just now book tee times any time through the day, with who they want to play with, and when they turn up at the club if they want to actually be entered for the comp they hand over their entry fee and their name goes on the list of entries.

As Nick said , plus all our annual match play, singles, pairs and team events had to be entered manually by a certain date , then a draw was made. [ pre Covid ]
Weekend comps we enter online using HDID entry fee is taken from the members card
Mid week, we book a tee time online free, to take part in the comp we're required to sign in at the computer terminal before play, entry fee taken from your card.

For the weekend comps we book a teetime via the competition entry section of IG.
For the daily comps we book our teetime in the normal booking section, and just advise the pro that we want to be booked into the comp.

Even pre-Covid, all ours are done in advance on IG. Rocking up wouldn't necessarily be any good anyway, as they can be oversubscribed.

We book a tee slot via BRS. when we turn up to play if you want to play in the competition you sign in on the club computer before teeing off. If you don't then you just play your round. We do not have booking sheets, lists etc

Do you happen to know which software your club uses?

And is the screen cleaned between each use?!
Club V1 / BRS

Yes, there is a pack of wipes by the screen, it is touch screen.

We do not have a pro so there is no one to manage a sheet, hence why I presume the club went down this route. It works well to be fair, for us anyway.

Is intelligent Golf a lot more expensive than howdidido? All I hear is good things about the former and bad things about the latter... don't know how they stay in business.
