How aggressive are you during a round?

Not physically. *cough*

I mean, how do you find yourself playing the game?

Personally, I'm far too aggressive. Will always try to shoot for the pin.
If out of position, will try miracle shots. The LAST option is always safety, loathe it.

The only time I'm less than aggressive, is on the putting green. This annoys me.

I have mellowed and learnt to be a bit more conservative with my play I'll now lay up off the tee on some holes and just aim middle of the green, can be described as boring but if it means 3 wood 7 iron 2 putts every time it's much more fun than driver wedge sideways out of trees 9 iron bunker 2 putts.

+1 on being more mellow on the course. I used to try and play every shot under the sun, bend balls around trees with a hybrid etc but more often than not they went wrong and turned a good bogey into double figures.

I now believe that there is no problem if I need to take 3 shots to the green, or if the all goes into the trees etc i simply knock it into the fairway and start again. I'm back to breaking 100 and I'm hoping parts of my game will get better as I'm either on the fairway or not far off and not digging myself out of the cack anywhere near as much

I think it's a matter of being aggressive at the right time, and recognising when you can afford to. That to me is good course management. In stroke play I believe it's much better to try to build a round than to go all out for it.

I'm not. Its easier to drop shots than get them back with birdies. Going after it, especially out of the do-do's, just gives shots away.

I generally play every shot as it comes. There are times for being aggressive and times for being a bit more conservative. I try to do whatever is most likely to get me the best score depending on the shot in hand although I would say my default is conservative.

This is my thinking, par is your friend, anything else is a bonus. If I can't make par, I'll go for bogey, just try to avoid the hero shot and making treble

This is bang on. Theres a time and a place for going at the pin, laying up and just playing to the safe part of the green. The best players are the ones who recognise when to do what and then can execute the shots on the back of their decision imo.

Are you me in disguise???

I'd say my aggressiveness is dependant on the competition in addition to just the course situation. Stableford definitely gets "going for it" out if me more often as 40 points could easily not see you win one. Match play can swing both ways. In general though I find I try to hit yardages off the tee to get the most out of my approach. There's nothing worse than smashing drivers and landing on partial wedge distance to a heavily sloping green. Got a few shorter par 4s at ours specifically designed to wreck your card by being out of position.

I'm fairly aggressive, I tend to go at most flags (or try to) when I have a 6 iron and down in my hand. With my wedges I very rarely do anything other than take dead aim at it, whether I pull it off is another matter entirely.

If I'm in a bit of a bad situation where I need to hit a mssive hook or slice round a tree I try to way up the risk before playing that shot. If I feel that I've got a lot to lose if I don't pull it off then I'll lay up and try to knock it close with a wedge, that way the worst I 'should' make is a bogey.

I guess its all down to confidence... like everything really!

If I am playing well and hitting the ball well... from the fairway with an accessable pin I will aim straight at it... If I am a lil off my game I just go for middle of the green.

I have recently stopped the crazy amazing shots as I know I will get into more trouble most of the time but its those shots you remember even years after hitting them. I once took a lob wedge from trees with a small gap and put it to 2 ft... I remember that one - I ignore the amount of times I thinned it and came close to murder! RIP Lobwedge...

I tend to be too conservative - or at least that's how it feels sometimes. Only exception is when I play a match like last week when I'm giving away 13 shots to each of our opponents. Had to hit par just to half and I'm not a scratch golfer. Finally stopped trying miracle shots after the turn, played my own game and won some holes at last. Perhaps that tells me I'm neither too aggressive nor too conservative!

I'm generally conservative. In a match I play to win whatever that requires (regardless of what I shoot - I couldn't care as long as I win) and in general that means taking out risk and that doesn't fit with playing aggresively. Medal - I am not good enough to force a good score - if I play my game sensibly and conservatively I have a much better chance of scoring well.

I used to be all about the hollywood shots, even if there was a 1 in 100 chance of it coming off, but lately I seem to have mellowed and find myself laying up, not taking the driver out by default and aiming for the centre of a green instead of the pin every time.... The frustrating thing is when the "safe" shots end up hooked/sliced and you think what was the point!

I have spent quiet a bit of time trying to get a balance between "grip it 'n' rip it" and a more conservative approach when needed.
It's taken a while to get used to it but it has started to show dividends on bounce games and we will see this weekend with it being the monthly medal and the first round or the club championship on Saturday and Sunday.
I've started taking a lot more 3 and 5 woods off the tees as it still only leaves a short to medium wedge shot into the green with far less chance of slicing one OOB. I shot my best 9 ever last week with a quadruple bogey on the first and finishing 6 over after 9 holes. Now it's time to do it in a competition and over 18 holes.

If there's a Hollywood shot on, I'm going for it.

I'm not good at percentage golf. The switch in my head turns to off mode.

This. Some of my favourite shots have been poo or champagne. I never remember chip outs, or lay ups. It's what keeps me coming back.
