@C7usk - Not so unusual for a private members club, and in fairness, more relaxed than some of those too!
You get proposed by a friend, then have a play in round with a past Captain or current committe member and an informal chat with the assistant GM, current Club Captain and two or three committee members. If that goes okay, then you are accepted as a provisional member. 6 months subs paid, and then you have up to 6 months to play or meet a minimum of 20 people.
Once you've done that, another informal chat with similar group plus other provisional members in the same situation to give them feedback on the process and understand final steps.
Your name goes in a book and once you've got 20 signatures, you're in as a full member.
And that's when they hit you for the joining fee and subs for the remainder of a full year.

How much are you paying to get 20 people to like you 😁

Had a look through the clubhouse windows to see how the transformation of our clubhouse ground floor was going, now that it’s almost done. And it looks splendid. Wondering how all the grumps who vehemently assert that doing it’s been a complete waste of money. We’ll see.

Future son-in-law out in Japan at the moment for the World Speed Golf Championships. Him and his mate are current UK pairs champion, and they are currently in 2nd place with the 2nd (and final) round tomorrow. Fingers crossed. BTW - re place of play. They play 9 holes foursomes in <20mins, and in the individual future S-i-L did 18 holes in 44mins

He will still get a limited card on tour and entry into a number of tournaments
Another pro was talking about this the other day. The difficulties come around planning your year. Invites are not guaranteed and often come late, ie can you fly tomorrow? It adds another layer of difficulty.

That's the gig, but it's a tough one.

The top few from QS can get around 25 starts, those from 12-20 might only get a dozen or so.
Eddie will have to make the most of his opportunities and may have to travel to far flung places to try and get enough points

He took a long break early season, which is now looking like a bad idea.

This week's pod will be interesting

After yesterday's rubbish trip to the range (being closed) I've found a range on my drive home (2 miles from the a406) that closes at 10!

Well that was the complete opposite to yesterday

I got there , was open for one! No track man but the whole thing is carpeted? Which was a nice touch. No club scratches lol 😆

However 50 balls £6 bargain

Worked on what my pro went through with me Sunday, hit 1 bad shot (first one) rest were ok.

7 iron
4 hybrid
Then worked on the driver. Found if I pause ever so slightly at the top of the swing then release I got my draw back so I was happy

aaaaand...the two Luke's have won the World Speed Golf Pairs. Plus 6th and 7th in the individual. So they are now both the British and the World Pairs Champs. Well done lads. Great stuff.(y)
