I've been up at the range at Parklands the last 2 days, and was surprised to see the course was open. I'd imagine it was a quagmire in places.
Some courses see it as a badge of honour, 'we never close' etc. Pointless though 🤷‍♂️. I've played a couple of times in the mud this year, zero point imo.

My golf shoes rubbed my little toe last week so I went to have a look at replacements this afternoon. Always tricky as I have wide feet, buying online doesn't work for me.

AG had little in and most were 3 figures 😳.

Next up, a huge SD. Big shoe section, happy days. Except..........someone was having a laugh as most of the signs bore no relation to the shoe it was in front of 🙄.

I found a lovely pair of UA shoes, Draw Sport SL shoes, except..........my left foot needed a size 8.5, my right a 9 😠. Wonderfully comfy and light but if they don't fit......... Very frustrating.

Our incorrect LR for Preferred Lies remains posted in entrance lobby, and none of the guys I spoke with yesterday about it knew that you do not have to mark your ball position before lifting it when taking preferred lies relief.🙄 Indeed one argued about it so much that I pulled up Model LR E-3, then E-2 for when you do.

When picking my ball out of the hole I take care to stand well away from the hole itself to avoid damaging or indenting the surface close to the hole. Yet I played with a fellow yesterday who used the ‘feet astride line of putt‘ method when assessing borrow, and he did it right up to, then standing over with feet immediately next to the hole. Why need I bother.

Although I respect your right to be annoyed, I do chuckle about this sometimes as there will have been loads of people before you got to the hole who would have trampled all over your line and around the hole so does one more 'footprint' actually make much difference.

Unless they had Adizero golf shoes

Didn't particularly care for my playing partner being yelled at for not taking his second shot into a par 5 because there was a group on the green, just because the gobby pillock 3 groups back couldn't dream of reaching it.

(The way the course is laid out, it doubles back on itself, hence a group so far back being able to be heard by us - they weren't all bunching on the tee waiting!)

It's funny people's perception of when to hit or not. Last weekend we were playing the par 5 18th on the 2010 course at Celtic Manor, and we were on the green. A oldish guy was standing, hands on hips, waiting for us to clear the green. There was a 40+ mph wind directly in to him and I doubt he could have got to the green in three hefty wallops of the ball.

Shooting 80 in the medal on Saturday, featuring 5 3 putts and 2 missed greens from inside 100 yards with a wedge. Every putt felt like a total misread.

Then shooting 70 yesterday with a guest, same tees/pins.

Golf.

The quote yelled out was "even Rory McIlroy couldn't hit the green from there!"

The guy put it just short of the green, he was right to wait. As we reached that green, I looked behind us and noticed two things. 1) The group behind had teed off, and hadn't reached as far as we had been standing and 2) I saw one of them duff it along the floor about 30 yards. My pairing just weren't the problem, the course just always bunches up at that point.

My irritation is partly that I bother and think others should also bother and have similar consideration for players yet to play the hole. Just because others stand close to the hole when picking ball out of the hole doesn‘t make it right and it doesn’t make it less irritating.

Isn’t it better that people do stand close to the hole (obviously not on the edge)? That way there is not so much crowning.

I've booked to play on my own today after work, 5.00 slot. When I booked there was one 4 ball at 5.08, 2-3 empty slots after them, nothing before me for about 4 slots. Great, clear run.

Just checked now. 1 x 4 ball has booked the slot before me, 4.52, nothing for 3 slots before or after. Who books a 4 ball before a single when it is empty all around the same time

It just always seems to happen doesn't

Just like, park your car at the far end of the car park cos there's no other cars, come back and find your car surrounded, and some prat has parked right up against yours......guaranteed

Someone who thinks you have no standing on the course, no doubt.

I am in the same boat. Booked for 1630 as a single. loads of slots behind me free. 2 x 4 balls popped in front of me. Hopefully I will be allowed to play through

Hopefully it will be the same for me. A slight stress of being held up that could be easily avoided though. Annoyingly, I can't get there any earlier as otherwise I'd move my booking forward. Let's hope, in both cases, that the people ahead are aware and considerate golfers.
