The course being closed all week due to saturated conditions, understandable really, it's never stopped raining.

Today glorious weather and the course is open. Unfortunately some idiot has booked in a junior scramble from mid-morning until dinner time and then a local cricket club for half the afternoon. Thus, the course is unavailable to members for most of the day.

Two of us booked the first slot after the society and followed them out. 3 hours for 10 holes. No exaggeration, 3 hours. We went back to the first tee after the 10th and did those 10 holes again in exactly 1 hour 30.

The post game beer was good though.

Played an away course today. Really cheap, good, but they didn't advise that half the greens were temps, neither did their website or FB page. I understand having temp greens but at least tell people so that they can make an informed choice.

To top it off, I lost my favourite cap, I think in the car park pre round ☹

Every time I make a good par or a birdie, I double the next hole. Or if it's two pars in a row, two doubles are not far behind. A tale as old as time.

I thought McGinley was an awful commentator but Faldo is so critical and far worse.I find his whole commentary so frustrating. He seems to be unable to say ‘good shot’!

Putting pace control was much better today, but direction just not there. Putts looking like they're going to break and then they just go straight on. Twice that happened from about 5 feet today. Maddening!

Maybe you have got used to the other commentators inanely praising every single shot regardless of whether it was a decent shot or not.

Faldo won the Masters three times and understands what a good shot is for the pros. His level of experience and expectation is much more insightful in my opinion (and I heard him saying good shot quite a few times).

First Open Comp of the season on Wednesday at Stinchcombe

50mph winds forecast 😵‍💫
I used to be a member there, great club, good test. I remember windy days there when trolleys blew over all the time. The 6th in a very strong crosswind will be fun!

I recently put Golf Pride Tour Wrap 2G grips on my irons. They're so good that I've now put them on all my clubs except the putter. I have discovered this morning that they are catastrophically bad when wet.

Absolutely shocking weather playing nine holes in this morning. Walked off after 8, and I swear just as we walked past the 9th green the rain stopped and the bloody sun came out. The drive back was lovely.

Played with the society lads on Sunday at my old course, had to pay but it’s quite cheap so I didn’t mind. The greens were the worst I’ve ever played on, truly shocking, long grass, bare patches, I’d have been happier putting on the fairway.
Felt a bit robbed of my green fee in the end.

I played at Stocksfield on Sunday. Half of the greens were temps, all tees were winter ones, one hole was fully closed! Lots of courses are not in a good place right now.

Yeah I know mate, I’m not really sure what’s happening up at my old place I’ve never seen the greens that poor in the 3 years I was a member there.
A friend played Stocksfield last week, he wasn’t very positive about it lol.

March rainfall was something like 150% of previous averages. I played Saturday, 3 days after the last rainfall and it was still a bog in places. Greens were holding up well considering I played late afternoon after a medal comp

On Friday/Saturday/Sunday it was beautiful, just enough to think the weather might have turned a corner. Then Sunday, horrendous, and rain all this week as well. It feels like Spring and Autumn are in the past, we just have 6 months of winter then suddenly 6 months of summer.
