I've booked to play on my own today after work, 5.00 slot. When I booked there was one 4 ball at 5.08, 2-3 empty slots after them, nothing before me for about 4 slots. Great, clear run.

Just checked now. 1 x 4 ball has booked the slot before me, 4.52, nothing for 3 slots before or after. Who books a 4 ball before a single when it is empty all around the same time
As much as you have a very valid point, I’d imagine people are trying to get as many holes in as possible and starting as early as they can. Hopefully you got through.

I got there slightly early and made it to the 1st whilst 2 of the 4 ball were still unpacking in the car park 😄. The others waved me through, I then had 9 holes to myself 😍.

I don't blame people for booking the time that suits them, it's fair enough. It's an irritation in the moment when you are a 1, seeing a 4 potentially blocking your way. That all changes when you are instantly waved through and see a clear course ahead.

For the record, 1 hour 8 minutes for 9 holes, yellow tees, sometimes playing 2 balls. Oh yes, Matt Fitzpatrick, I could join your 4 ball no problem 😄

I’m giggling as the irony is that the two grumpy blokes I play with always complain about singles chasing us around the course. “Have the got nee mates!?!?” Is the usual one 😂😂😂

On a serious note, we don’t mind letting people through but we get a steady stream of two balls midweek and when it’s backed up we often wonder why they don’t just pair up to keep their pace steady with the field.

Be at the tee at 1652 - somebody in the 4 ball will surely invite you to go first?

Reminded of this irritation while watching a golfmate youtube vid this morning…

When someone in your group comes out with a game related quip/one liner that they think deserves a raucous reception & much hilarity… but it’s mostly ignored by the other players because it’s just naff &/or old… so they repeat it twice more in the belief you didn’t hear them, cos you couldn’t possibly find it unfunny

This is an annoyance of mine, you have a booking list full of 2 balls, surely it is not too much to ask that pro shop or club manager to speak to the groups and send them all off as 4 balls. They do not have to play together if they do not want to, they can play 2 separate matches in their group.

If there is no pressure on tee time availability, why force playing in 4s? All you are doing is slowing the course down.

What if they are playing a club KO ? Or just want to play as a 2ball ?

They can play a 2 ball or club KO just in a group of 4. Just because the group is 4, does not mean it cannot play as 2 separate 2 balls at the same time. The more similar the group sizes, the smoother the course traffic should move.

Playing club KO in 4 ball is painful very- it’s why we allow the two spots to be blanked out if playing a club KO- If the tee isn’t fully booked then there is no need and the traffic will flow well provided people keep up with pace of play and let the quicker groups through - yes I know , putting the responsibility on the players

Playing a society event today. I really hate this course. Hit 39 points last time but hated it because it's so small IE you just miss the fairway and your on another fairway.. always feels like your gonna hit someone

Turn up today. Gales. So ofc it's tough. Been told the greens are lightening .. their slowest greens I've ever played

Then on 13th hole the buggy runs out

They to their credit within 5 mins arrive with another .. but the marshall arrives to give his mate a lift back and goes you can't park there

Well I didn't.. it stopped 🤣

Second Friday on the bounce cancelled because of heavy rain. Just looked at the long range forecast, and next Friday? Heavy rain. Great.
