Golf On Course Snacks

Double sausage and egg muffin from the drive through on my way to the course

New place opened near me selling fresh made biltong so I normally have a small bag of that to chew on. Always preferred savoury to sweet so that suits me fine

Do i know what amino acids are?. I was a sports nutritionist for bodybuilders for 15 years so yes. Worked along side jay cutler, Ronnie colman and denis wolf to name a few. on the other hand you dont even know what the difference is per bar and per 100g. To be taking a pre workout formula before a round of golf is a joke and give zero benefit for the round ahead

*yawn*

A sports nutritionalist who claims Mars bars aren't even 50% sugar? (go and read your post!) Need I say any more?

At weekends when halfway hut is open probably a coffee and choccy bar. In the Winter maybe a cup of soup of the day and the odd time maybe a bacon or dog roll.

Midweek and hut closed then nowt but a few swigs of water.

Still NO sugar in a kebab :D

Have to say this must be a load of bollox. 😀 No cholesterol, saturated fat or salt in a donner kebab? If that's the case it'll be my new pre-round meal.

However, I can foresee there will be a crash. It will involve a dicky tummy and sitting on the pan.

Last time i checked a mars bar weighed 41 gram and it contained 20.1 grams of sugar. Its certainly not 90%

And nutritionist dont deal in mars bars

bit more than snacks but should folks want to read up some in depth about core fitness and nutrition then Mark Verstegen's book 'Core Performance Golf: The Revolutionary Training and Nutrition Program for Success On and Off the Course' is pretty comprehensive

noticed also the editor mentioned another uk golf magazine so seems it's ok to post this link to TG

Steak and gravy pie from the halfway house at Carnoustie. Best mid-round snack ever!

I'm sorry but I would have to disagree. I get my butler to slow roast a swan and serve it shredded in a wrap with cucumber, spring onion and hoisin sauce. A lot of peasants think that swan should be served like a traditional roast with potatoes, vegetables and gravy but these people are imbeciles. The Rolls Royce golf buggy with a hot plate on the back keeps it toasty warm until the 10th tee and obviously the fridge under the seat keeps the Veuve Clicquot at the correct temperature as a perfect mid round tipple.

It's a round of golf not a picnic ffs! If a halfway house is open I'll grab a sausage batch but as far as looking at calories or anything else, get a life 😜

sorry, but you're wrong on all accounts.

Photos don't lie...

You have issues . I said "last time i checked". Unlike you i dont frequent websites checking the current size and weight of confectionery.
Even so, whether the info i provided was from a 2010 mars bar or a 2016 bar then my 50% statement is still damn well closer than your 90%

Anyway, go and enjoy your pre workout drink ( a product called "the curse" is better)

Thinking back to my old uni days does eating simple sugars i.e. a chocolate bar not induce the insulin response? This initially lowers your blood sugar level which will make you less energetic. This will rectify itself over a period of time.

Is a mix of complex carbs, nuts and seeds not the eay to go? The way you lot are going on you'd think it's elite athletes doing an ultra-marathon over the himalayas... 😛

Yes simple suagrs do have a impact on insulin production which in some people can cause small highs and lows on bloody sugar. This would have an effect on a performing athlete durring high intensity exercise. but walking round a golf course????? You wouldn't notice a thing.

I agree with what you say. Some people talk about being super hydrated and eat lots off omega fatty acids to help concentration on the course. in reality we're walking round a field hitting a ball with a stick

Nuts and a banana usually. Sometimes a small bag of crisps. In comps our club sometimes offers free coffee and cake at the half way hut, in which case I happily have some of that, but normally I try to stay away from sugary snacks during the round. My blood sugar level tends to crash dramatically afterwards and I get downright shaky if I have a Snickers or Mars bar during the round. No sugary drinks either, for the same reason. Just mineral water and in winter herbal tea.
