Golf England members website now live!

Lol. 8.9 (from 11.1)
Single figures baby.....oh yeah!!!
Doesn't feel like quite as much of a life changing event as i imagined...
So, when i put my shiney new single figure cap into the R&A calculator for my home course, it gives my playing cap as.... 11....?
Am I a proper golfer, or am I still a chopper??
Genuinely don't know (except that I still am, obvs).

Quick question - playing handicap

It’s worked out from handicap allowance and course handicap

I guess you use the course handicap from the chart on the tee which is a whole number or do you use the manual calculation which won’t

The charts or if you use a manual calculation round it to the nearest whole number (0.5 goes up)

Unless a player lives North of the border apparently. They have to round only after calculating the Playing Handicap.

Mine has effectively gone up, despite me putting in 2 rounds 3 to 4 strokes below handicap ... so undone the efforts to put my game back on track and cutting my handicap by 0.3 from the start of the season .. yay what a motivator .. I was happy with my Congu handicap, I knew where I would rip it up and where I was struggling.. Now I am looking at this system and thinking some spanner with a calculator has pulled together a collection of numbers to justify why they cannot play golf.

So the thing that confuses me is my Congu handicap is based upon playing at my home course which has a slope of 133. My index is 6.4 and at home course I get 8 shots. Yet my Congu handicap of 6.3 reflects how I play on the course I now get an extra 2 shots on....

I guess I just need to stay confused and let it happen!

It's highly likely that everyone else playing in your comps will be in the same sailing ship.

Just gone up from 15.5 to 19.1 according to the website . That is indicative of the last two years of very painful golf, but still feels a bit :poop:. Still according to the course rating and slope table chart, I get to play my course off 20 now :D

Whilst I appear to have gone up by 3.5, Mrs Wedge has come down from 28.5 to 21.9, tantamount to her playing pretty well over the last year.

So all 4 in our group that play off 14 under congu are between 17 and 18, giving us course handicaps of 19/20. The 17 capper up a few shots and the 20 up 6.

I'm personally 17.1, with my 8th best score +17 I'm a bit baffled ??‍♂️

Something definitely wrong from our course, cant get into the main site yet to see how it's been calculated, but if it doesn't change I'll look up some opens with some nice prizes ?

Oh my. A playing partner has gone from a 1hcp to a +3.6index.
In our regular fourball the low handicap has gone from a 6 to a 4 and off the yellows, which is all we will have from now until spring, will be playing off 4. The high handicap in the group has a 16.4 index but will be playing off 19 all winter. We always play a 4 handed matchplay, anyone who goes one up is now playing the other three. Guess where the money is going??

Hmm, all my rounds before the 12th July have a differential 2 lower than they aught to be afterwards they are OK.?
Same course same score, how does that work.

That's the question I was asking a while back but never got a proper answer, if someone comfortably plays off X handicap at a course, how can they suddenly gain shots?

Problem uploading Date of Birth and Email Addresses to WHS Platform (England and Wales)
Thu Oct 22, 2020 3:53 pm

It has come to our attention that a change was made by DotGolf to the England Golf/Wales Golf WHS Platform last night that disrupts HandicapMaster accessing club membership lists from the WHS server.

We were not advised that DotGolf were planning these late changes to the WHS system and were therefore unable to pre-plan for this with our software release last week.

We are sorry that their WHS system change has rendered the facility in HandicapMaster mostly inoperable.

We have reported the problem to DotGolf (and England Golf and Wales Golf) and are awaiting a response.
