At our club, fees are the same for male and female and both have the same privileges/access etc at the club. Been that way since 1981.

Lady friend of mine in Perth had her fees raised $1,000 up to Men's level after a group of Ladies wanted equal access, they already had 4 day's of competitions, including Saturday and Sunday.

Over 100 lady members, so an extra $100,000 in the coffers every year, a lot of Ladies were not happy, and all they got were voting rights. 😂

At my club there’s no Joining fee for a woman.

So 35 yr old male £2900

35 yr old female £1450.

Both full 7 day members That’s not equality imo.
Wow, I assume women now overwhelmingly outnumber the men at your club?

Have any men at all joined since this was introduced or are you just inundated with only new women members?

I'd join if they let me identify as a woman, play off the red's and walk around the ladies changing rooms :ROFLMAO:

We don’t have a waiting list anymore.
That’s just the cost of living imo.

Don’t know how many Ladies we have.

But equality should mean just that!

Have to say I would be perfectly happy with a locally administered trustworthy and accurate handicap rather than the current claptrap.
Couldn't give a damn if its not valid in Timbuktu.
Would you give a damn if it wasn't valid in an open that you wanted to enter?

I know you play a lot of opens, I play quite a few but not in your league. All of the opens I enter now have restrictions on them in terms of being a club member, needing a CDH number during the entry process and also how many competition cards are in your 20. More and more are also having a top h/c limit. Are you seeing the same?

Definitely something for people to think about if they want to play Opens.

The EG narrative seemed to change on the justification for WHS. It was all about portability, being able to play against someone with a Timbuktu handicap, and having a single global system.
That was quietly shelved as people realised that there wasnt a single system, maybe even more that pre WHS, and the downsides were significant, for a supposed gains hardly any actual golfers were agitating for in the first place.
The story changed to inclusivity, participation numbers and the likes of iGolf.
Showing how the traditional golfer is not EG's priority. Almost an irritant, on their own mission, that I am not clear who is setting it.

If I wanted to enter an Open and could not , it may bother me. But I would rather have a decent handicap administered locally that does a good job for the competitions I generally play in than the current mess.. I don't enter many opens.

Well that's you sorted then, I suppose this is exactly the same for every other member of your club?

Also I assume your club wouldn't then play any Handicap matches against other local clubs which I am sure will be fine for everyone.

My main point was in respect to the WHS, in which I and virtually everyone I know has no interest in their handicap being valid in other countries.
Personally I do not use my handicap outside my club very often though so it doesn't really concern me which was my response to the question.

Yes, definitely seeing that a lot. Asking for 4/5/6 competition cards in your last twenty is not unusual. I've even seen one that wanted 12 from the last 20! I've also noticed some comps where iGolfers are specifically excluded, or where they're playing for a separate prize pot.

I've moved clubs recently and my main driver was finding one that did qualifying comps throughout the off season so I can use the winter to replenish my card ready for the open season. Lots of clubs say they run winter comps but they're often scrambles, or match play leagues, or other non-qualifying formats. Great fun for most of the members but no good for me, so I had to be very choosy. Found one in the end though.

That the original justification for WHS was this unification idea, does smack of an administration getting carried away with housekeeping and unification for the sake of it. The cost, work, and disruption it has caused in grass roots golf is totally out of proportion to any problem solved.

There has been a lot of talk, controversy and unhappiness with WHS. Who here remembers a single voicing along the lines of 'this handicap system fragmentation around the world is a disaster. Why cant we just have a single system so that I can play a correctly handicapped round with my brother in law from South Africa when he vists every 3 years ? Its infuriating, and really spoiling my enjoyment of golf'.

New record! Kenwick Park have an open in August and visitors must have 15 competition scores in their last twenty!

Wow, that seems a bit extreme. I think I only have 2 GP cards in my 20 but that isn't what EG are looking for really. Clubs doing this are pretty much preventing people who play Opens from putting in GP cards.
