I am on a mission to reduce my handicap, but being winter, temp greens, closed holes etc, general play cards have not really been possible.

I played away a couple of weeks ago, put one in and indeed reduced my handicap - closer to how I'm playing currently - being called a bandit does grind on you after a while, but it is the WHS system we all play to.

Anyway, played on Friday in a four ball and submitted notification of a card on the EG app. One of my playing partners agreed to mark the card and attest whetever score I ended up with.

Wifi was poor, but the app opened at the end of the round, his name came up and pressed the button to request attestation. It didn't come throught o him, but reception was poor, so we parted for him to do it later.

Seems it has gone to another 'Fred Smith' and despite emailing a reminder - nothing, so have had a notification from EG, I have a couple more days to sort it, of it will be marked as a penalty score, but it isn't something I can do, unless someone knows a way of changing the attesting member?

The email advises I can discuss with the handicap secretary at my club, to wipe it, but does anyone know a way the score could stand?

Thanks.

There may be a way for your handicap secretary to delete the unattested round and then re enter it without it needing attestation, I haven't done handicaps for a few years so I could be wrong but it is worth checking.

You should be able to cancel submission yourself in the app (if not, your handicap committee can do it through the admin portal) and then resubmit with the correct attestor.

The Penalty Score for an unattested score via MyEG is the actual score submitted.

I’m more bothered about any score marked as a penalty being a ‘black mark’. The score was good, so disappointed if it goes, but possibly more if it stays - work me out!

My view is that 'Penalty Score' isn't an appropriate name for it in many circumstances as it's more of an information flag than an actual penalty and should be treated as such.
