I thought I understood the handicap maths but I can't work out what's going on here...
Played yesterday and had the round of my life, thankfully I had pre-registered it as a general play score so I was looking forward to a nice cut.
My marker attested the score this morning and the cut is even bigger than I expected.
My index was 16.8, which gave a course handicap of 20. Course rating is 72.1, slope is 131, and the PCC on the day was -1. My adjusted gross score was 82.
Score differential is (AGS - CR - PCC) x (113/SR) so that's (82 - 72.1 - -1) x (113 / 131) = 9.4
MyEG is showing a score differential of 8.4 - so that's question 1. Where does 8.4 come from?
Secondly, my index has moved from 16.8 yesterday to 14.6 today.
My best eight before yesterday were: 14.0, 15.5, 17.2, 17.2, 17.2, 17.3, 17.3 & 18.7 = 134.4 / 8 = 16.8
Today, the 18.7 has dropped off and has been replaced by the new Score Diff but my new index is 14.6.
New score diff of 8.4 should lead to new handicap index of 15.5.
New score diff of 9.4 should lead to new handicap index of 15.6.
To get to 14.6, the new score differential would need to be 1.0!
I am somewhat baffled but it's just occurred to me that maybe things change overnight. My round was yesterday but it was only attested today. Do I need to wait until tomorrow to see 'final' values?
