How can we do that? You've not told us what the other options are.
Good point.

First of all, the Heavenwood and driving iron are both 20° clubs used for totally different shots;
but now to alternate choices.

The bid red X is where the 16.5° 4-wood used to be.
That's one option.

There is a 23° T350 5-iron.
I'm not sure that I need it.

The seventeenth club in my set is the chipping iron that came with and cosmetically matches the 64° sand wedge.
It's short with an upright lie angle to allow a putter-like stroke, but it has 42° loft.
It's a good club if I have no limitations, but I can make do without it.

That' it. Only seventeen clubs in the current set.
I needed full sized staff bags for some of my older sets.

No idea why someone would need a 58 and 60 degrees wedge

And then why need a 64 degree wedge

That’s two wedges not needed

58 lob wedge - 53 as the SW ( but can use the 58) - 48 is the Gap Wedge

Leaves more space at the top end where there are prob massive gaps
I explained it above.
In case you missed it.

As for the six wedges, a brief overview, just as an explanation.

The T350 iron set is two clubs stronger than what I've played in the past.

The 43° set wedge is the equivalent of a classic era 8-iron.
The 48° set wedge is the equivalent of a classic era 9-iron.
The 53° set wedge is almost the equivalent of a classic era pitching wedge.

The SM10 58-08 has a versatile "M Grind" sole which is capable of full or near full shots, one club shorter than the 53.

The SM10 60-04 has a "T Grind" sole that's horrific for both full shots and greenside bunker play.
It's specifically designed for finesse greenside chips and lobs after short-side misses.

The 64° wedge is not part of the set's loft gapping progression.
It's my specialty sand iron, used ONLY for that one person.

My three "add-on wedges" are all specialists, not general practitioners.
With more versatile wedges, I could cut down, but it could also impact my short game.

To many wedges. Dump the 64 and open the face a little on the 60 if required. 👍
Good luck and let us know how much you win. 👍
Thanks, Tash.
For what it's worth, the 64 is a specialty sand iron.

The 60, with its sole having relief ground away everywhere,
has virtually no bounce at all. It's terrible in bunkers and digs in like a razer if used for full shots.
It's a specialty "short-side miss" recovery club.

That's my weakness--attraction to and subsequent reliance on one-trick-pony clubs.
The driving iron, which I don't hit from the fairway, is another example.

To be honest mate, you're boring people to death here.

Come up with something interesting that doesn't involve you and your vast array of golf clubs.
Sorry. I'm sure that you know how to use the ignore function.

Set configuration is admittedly a very favorite topic of mine.
If it's not a thing with you, or with UK p[layers in general, fair enough.

Why would anyone ask a load of strangers on the internet which clubs they should have in their bag.
I love discussions on set configuration.

There are so many choices of tactical strategy,
and it's one of my favorite golf discussions.

Apparently, it's not a particularly interesting subject in the UK.
Golf Monthly is an excellent and enjoyable forum,
but it's not super heavy on equipment talk like American fora.

I'll try to keep these cultural differences in mind.

I have a Ram 64 wedge that I have used a lot in the last 25 years. Great club.
I think I will put it back in the bag this week.
I will have 10.5° driver, 15° 3-wood and 20° hybrid.
Irons will be 21, 24, 28, 32, 36, 40, 45, 50, 58, 64.

I like to keep spare clubs to a minimum. It removes doubt and over thinking 😁

In the winter I'll often carry a half set. Odd numbers one week, evens the next.

I just had a sell off of spares. I now only own 14 clubs. (Plus a vintage set for those days)
Agree. Just because we can carry 14 clubs doesn’t mean we have to. I carry 13, does me just fine.

ETA…my pro/coach got me buying 12 plus putter…he said that once I get used to playing my new clubs and I’ve been playing them for a good while, rain, hail, wind and shine….I’ll be able to work out where I’m lacking, and will have room in my bag for a club to meet that need. And so it has come to pass. And I don’t have to worry about having to take a club out.

I'm with birdyhunter here! Why was his post deleted? I guess mine will be too!

"I don't like this thread" or comments along those lines - why make them?

I want to discuss with Boomer MY "vast array" of clubs and the choices that I make choosing which clubs to put in the bag.
If you don't like it - go read some other threads. Might I suggest LIV and Footie?
There are far more Dress Code threads than this type of thread, which I find very odd indeed, although I always have things to say about dress codes for playing golf.

I have two drivers.
Cobra F Speed 10.5° regular and 9° stiff.
I have the matching 15° 3-wood regular.
I have 3 Cobra Baffler hybrids 16°, 20° and 23°.

Irons.
Ping G10 3 and 4 with Ping i10 5 to 46° PW and 52° U-Wedge
Ping Eye2 BeCu 3-SW
Daiwa TCS blades 3-PW
Powerbilt Oversize 2-SW
Many other wedges of various makes from 56° to 64°

I would be quite happy if rules allowed 18 clubs in the bag, but in deepest winter I can find 10 clubs adequate.
Short answer no-one really cares what you put in the bag. Use what you like or think will give you the best chance to score well
I care - not a lot - but I do, because it interests me how other people go about it.

You've at least two (probably more) clubs that are for very specific uses

You'll know the number of times you typically use each club per round. Might even be less than zero.
Start there and ditch the stuff that's so infrequently used it'll make no impact to the score for a 'typical' round of golf

On paper it looks like there are massive gaps at the top of the bag but we can't make informed comments unless we know how far Boomer hits the clubs. His technique might mean the gaps are fine as he can't hit driving iron very far so 6 iron is fine for the next club (probably not though)

This thread did bring a smile to my lips. I suspect Bloomer is not entirely the member that he publicly shows. My guess, for what is worth, is that in reality he is located ‘northwest of Boston’ ( USA not Lincs) but he is a lapsed Brit who enjoys winding us all up.

With all the other topics that I don't look at.....talking about club choices is fine with me. Just do what a lot of people do (definitely me) and only look at the topics that interest you. I don't care about football so I never look. I've been in a quandary about taking my 11 wood out and adjusting my 9 wood higher and adding a 7 wood between my 5+9w. Interesting to me...boring as heck for others.
