As with anything in putting it doesn’t matter how you read the greens if you still can’t put a consistent stroke on the ball or actually start the ball on the right line

Aimpoint has been around for years now - don’t think there is anyone at the club that uses it and only came across one guy in a scratch match that used it ( yep he was very slow and didn’t sink a putt all day long )

If you are playing at you home course week in week out then you will know how the green rolls and should know the green slopes etc

There will no doubt be people who are good putters but couldn’t read a book so Aimpoint may help them

But whilst it allowed someone to reduce their handicap ( was it all down to putting ) how many have had their handicap go up since they started using it

And so it starts. Someone dismissing it without ever trying it. Think you must be alone. I know at least half a dozen at my club using it and all say there putting is improved including an ex pro. Just because you think you know the greens doesn't mean to say the putt is always the same. Whilst you are entitle to an opinion please do not dismiss it out of hand if you have never tried it

I've only seen one person use it who I've played with and he was not aa particularly good putter with it and he was slow. But I don't know what he was like without it and he was slow at everything else.

Not when it is an aimpoint discussion ☹️
You're a hard man

I really don't get all these "it takes too long". If you haven't done it within 15-20 secods tops you aren't using Aimpoint Express correctly. Even Jamie Donaldson the Aimpoint European director of coaching who works with the tour pros says the same thing and when does the course he times your read.

Come on homer, you cant post a thread, pretty much invite criticism and then moan when someone gives their opinion of it.

The Son of my mate uses it...he's a decent putter anyway and from my perspective, he doesn't seem to hole more putts than he did before he started.
One of the facets of Aimpoint relys on you being able to determine break with your feet astride the line of your putt.
I've tried this and, unless it's a 3 foot break, I just can't feel it.
I certainly can't feel half a cup of break....but I can see it.
Add into that..on our greens you'd need 15 fingers on eeach hand to show the breaks on some greens....
I understand the science behind it and, just like having a line on your ball and lining it up, as long as people get on with it I really don't care what they do.
It's not something I feel the need to explore

I was speaking to a +3 golfer at our club who uses it. He said it vastly improved his putting , especially ant away courses, BUT, you need to really practise the technique. I.e, It’s not a case of going on the course and get presto , it’s an instant cure for bad putters.

Fair play, if it works for you, and you have time to practice, AND you don’t slow up play…..crack on.

Sounds like you use it and I'm guessing it has improved your game and lowered your hcp?

Fair play to people that spend that level of time practising- must take a lot of patience.

It seemed to have improved both Rose and Scott who use it

For some though they will look for it to the that eureka moment - same with many other ideas that are about - stack and tilt , golf thinking etc

People will always look for the quick improvement

I'm one of the half dozen Homer refers to and I can safely say I couldn't putt for toffees until I started using it. I don't think I'm slow on the green, I've used it for years and have it down to a fine art.

My bad putting rounds are now down to being upset with two putts rather than three putts. My handicap has come down to single figures over the years, and I recon aim point had a big help in that!

(@HomerJSimpson you can pay me the tenner for supporting your thread on the weekend)
