YouTubers.

Enjoyed the 1st Shiels vid since his liv sign-up. Bit like teaser content rather than what he says we'll get through the season but Rahm & Brooks were good and engaging

Thought it was great. Interesting listening to Koepka about challenge tour etc.

Can't blame Rick for taking a big pay day.

Travel the world for free, paid decently and plays some amazing courses with a few world class players.

This.

He clearly lost his passion and drive over the last 18 months so this will be a great move for him. I've given him some stick before but I remember watching him when he was at Trafford Golf Centre, reviewing clubs after working minimum wage in the shop trying to grow his channel. He's done amazingly well for himself and will be having a right crack over the next few years.

How much did they apparently sign him up for?
It’s a no brainer for the career he’ll now have travelling the world and will probably rake in even more from his YouTube with more views/subscribers.

Fair play to him.

In other news, Good Good got a deal with Golf Channel…

Not sure it’s their target demographic 😂 but who knows…

Interesting how they all talked last year that YT golf is saturated and now have launched new things to rise above the noise… Good business acumen

but he is already seeing a backlash, losing 30,000 subscribers in the first week after signing.

Is it high for those funding LiV though?
I would have thought so. He is only an "ambassador" and so I don't see what that amount of money is going to bring to LIV for a Youtuber. It seems a small niche, considering how much golf content is out there now and Shiels is a marmite figure anyway so surely a lot of those that aren't fans won't tune in and there will the anti-LIV followers as well that won't watch it because its LIV

whilst I agree he is a marmite charachter, I think £15M is a drop in the ocean for those funding LiV, so can see them taking the risk to expand their reach in the hope of building their viewers/reputation etc.

When it comes to subscribers I wonder how many are actually active

I know he did have 3 mil

But how many actually sit and watch his videos

Losing 30k from a core following is prob not a huge hit but it does say something

He will now have the LIV cult following his every move , lapping it up and some will have walked away

But he will have access to create content with their big names ( suspect it will be part of their contract ) and he will be paid nicely for it

Shiels will have a good 12 months, new courses, new LIV players etc. The acid test will be post 12m when he's played the courses and done videos with the players...

The first video with Brooke’s & Rahm was pretty good.
I’m sure he’ll mix the format up when he plays with different players.

He’s already recorded with Joaco under the lights in Riyadh, not sure if that goes live before the start tomorrow or not but it should be an interesting watch, and of course, probably opens Ricks channel up to new viewers from South America and Chile.

He regularly gets 1m views per video, which, compared to many of the channels is massive.
