Shiels confirms he wont now actually be competing against Rahm and co on LIV. “This is not me playing in LIV Golf events,” Shiels said.

Could the not much soughtafter RS merch now become connaisseurs collectables that he is now gone full LIV ?

Looking at that graph, it does look like we was running out of steam on his own, with absolute levels at 2023 or even earlier, and a shrinking market share. The headline subscriber numbers just not turning into views.
Its a crowded market place. I will be interested to see how Hannah Holden does on her own now that she has hived from NGC, and starting from ground zero. I would guess its hard to ramp the subs and views and to gain traction.

Is quite amusing observing some of the flouncing..
"I'm unsubscribing from Shiels now" etc.
Thanks for the announcement 😁
At least they are open about him being an ambassador, and thus paid advocate/publicist/influencer, and so no longer independent and credible on matters LIV. We know he simply cannot say DJ is just phoning it in to collect the cheques, and finished as a competitive golfer, for example, however much he might think it.

Not special really, but in a much less crowded marketplace, he had a role. But it was more a case of being in early, and offering a bit of everything, than being better. He offered a bit of reviews, instruction, matches, tech, travel. Crossfield similar, but a bit more edgy. They were both building the genre and deserve credit for that. Now there are plenty of options in each area, and some in niche specialisms, like Stacked Golf or Bebetter golf. And on the mainstream content, I dont think there is any area where there arent now several options that are superior to Shiels. Crossfield has a bit more characted to him but Marmite component as well. Shiels various one off or repeated link ups with other tubers only has so much mileage in it too, and starts to make them all a little incestuous and out of real ideas rather than still innovating.

Covid, the subsequent lockdown worldwide, and the ‘golf boom’ all massively, massively helped Rick Shiels and Peter Finch get to where they are

LIVs problems of its abysmal ratings are compounded by how few days per year their golfers are on show to even claim they are something wortg watching. Youtube type stuff is a way to try to remind people that they still exist. Bryson has done a great job of it, and clearly still has ambitions as a golfer and to be a relevant name in the game. LIV may well feel the rest of their stable needs help, and so have subcontracted it to Shiels.

Just watched the announcement, sounds a reasonable move for him to create more quality content. Don’t get the hate? No different to Iona having access via Titleist or Grant joining up with Phil.

I’d be more concerned though that he announced a lot of new content types(this challenge/that challenge, every LIV event, on location etc), which is lot of filming, production and travelling. If he is to deliver on all this, he’d burn out by the end of the year.

Watching just now, Dan Greive giving Woosie a chipping lesson (& he really needed it)

Credit to the player letting it be filmed for us to see. Doesn't matter what you've done or once knew
He still cares enough about his game to seek the fix

Just watched the Rick/LIV announcement
Makes sense for LIV to sign up a social media big hitter and in hindsight it maybe should've happened sooner

Lets hope it doesn't end up behind a paywall

Hannah will do OK but doesn't have the personality to do anything special IMO. I'm sure she'll make a modest living and have a lot of fun which is still a decent career for a few years.

Never been a fan or subscriber of his. Bit smarmy in my view.

But he's done well for himself and it's up to him if he takes increased wealth over integrity, given his published views about LIV.

Most folk would do the same in his shoes. I'm sure the Liv Bots will manufacture a few bogus subscribers to cover up those who've unsubscribed. 🤣🤣

Bryson's got some pretty ambitious plans on the go.

A 200 acre plot of land that will be start off with a driving range and expand into a golf/multi sports community that will grow the town by 30% - population of Modesto is already around 220,000, so that's some development.

Reports saying Shiels lost 10,000 subscribers in the 1st 24hrs since his Liv announcement.

That equates to a 0.3% loss of his 2.92 million subscriber base.

Be interesting to see if that continues to decrease
