I play of 15 and only played for 2 years but I've had two spectacular blowups already.

1. 12 over after 5, stood on the 18th 10 over and proceeded to blast it OOB and took an 8 to finish with a 71. It was a right windy day and a 6 would have won the competiton outright and a 7 would have won my section.

2. 2 under after 12 and finished 17 over, just don't know what happened, think the bottle crashed and I started thinking about.

I was +7 gross in a midweek medal standing on the 16th tee. Finished 6, 6, 6 (double, triple, single bogey). If that wasn't bad enough came to the 16th the following weekend in the monthly medal even better at +5 and proceeded to finish exactly the same again.

was playing in the nov medal last year and stood on a dogleg right par 4,big pond down right handside to catch any wayward tee shots, day before i drove over and left of pond and played a wedge to 6ft and putt in for birdie, stood on tee with every confidence of repeating birdie or atleast getting par, knocked it straight in the pond and after dropping out and pitching on,plugging into a sodden green etc,etc i ended up with a 7,the next hole i made 8 on a par 5,good drive down middle then hooked 5 wood out of bounds et,etc. i had another 7 on another hole,i ended up 2nd and shot a 67 (par 72) off 19.6,similar story in oct medal, came in 3 under and 5th place, the joys of high handicap golf!

That is a crime, but what's worse - blowing 19 shots on 6 holes or being 2 under in the first place?

Where do I start?
Started one round birdie eagle eagle birdie (par 4,5,4,5), -6 gross after 4 and finished +6 with barely a par on the card.

biggest shocker was sitting around +2 gross and taking an 8 on the 17th par 3, no water on the hole, 3 bunkers which were never touched either, just stupidity round a bush and a tree cost me bigtime.

had one round like that and still comes back to haunt me

stood on the 13th tee level par for the course and told myself that this game is easy and yes you got it i may have walked in after that as i didn`t score one more point

such is life

I didn't even think I was playing that well, sank a lot of putts for par and the 4 birdies I had were no more than 3 feet. It wasn't even a couple of big scores that killed me in the last six.

I play with a slight draw so on my course I'm always flirting with OOB of the tee. Somehow managed to start blocking my teeshots to the right and the rest was just abysmal.

The 3 lads I play with are of 2, 8 and 9 and they were telling me from the 14th to just try and play bogey golf in using a 6 iron off the tee.

I knew better off course, not

A few years back I was playing off of 13 and had 5 birdies in a medal round which gave me 18 strokes for 13 holes and I still chuffed the round.

I have also started with an eagle 2 then followed it with a 7 at a driveable par 4.

My biggest blow up has to be when playing in the club championship I shot a 3 under par 29 on the front nine only to be followed up with a 6 over 39 on the back.

Fortunatly at this present time i have not blown up even though ive started badly.A playing partner of mine has though, our captains day we were all really looking forward to the day two rounds, talking about it days in advance. He started par, birdie, bogey, par then 13 on a par 3 5th,round over and still 31 holes to play.

A few years back was of 8 at the time and playing in the monthly medal. I was 3 under gross after 12 and never even broke 80. (Aberdour is a Par 67).

Can't even remember the exact scores on the final 6 holes as I was as close as I have ever been to club throwing and having a temper tantrum on a golf course.

My first competition at my new club when I joined in May was their Open competition. I was 1 over after 13 and finished 5,5,5,5,5 to finish 7 over. Finished tied for first but was forth better inward half. I never played badly to do it, I was either on or at the edge of all of the last 5 holes in regulation and then threw all of the shots away chipping and putting. Who would have thought my short game was actually good before and after those five holes. DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In a medal comp last year i got to our 5th par 3 200yds +4 and took a 12 on it.

I was actually playing ok up until that, then my round just went from bad to worse. At 1 point i was going to walk off but if i would've i probably wouldn't have played golf again.

I remember it still. One of my ancient history / any normal sane person would have forgotten about it 20 years ago jobbies.

( Yes I can be weirdly anal about golf sometimes ).

I was a junior still, so in fact we're talking nearer 30 years ago.

Matchplay. None of your strokeplay stuff - this was mano a mano humiliation to the nth degree.

The history - I'd played my first match for Coulsdon Court against Shirley Park. I won it easily on the 15th. Thank you very much.

But then we played the return. They put me up against their best player - I think he was off about 5, and I was getting 12 or so shots.

( Yes I know I must be anal to still remember it this well. TBH it might have been that the HC difference was 12, so I got 3/4 difference - I honestly can't remember )

It was raining.

The 1st hole. A 400 yarder straight, but slightly uphill. Because it was horrible, and not running, we both laid up our second shots an easy wedge from the green. Then the lightening started, so we were called off the course. After the rain delay we walk back up the fairway and pitch on. I'm well inside him, and I've got a shot to boot, so I expected us both to 2 putt, and for me to go one up.

Nope

He sinks his, and I 3 putt - One down.

I manage to half the next two holes ( both short, simple, high SI holes )

Then on to the first par 5. Which I lost.

Followed by losing the next, and the next, and the tricky par 3, and the two after that.

So I'm comfortably 7 down at the turn.

Rattle in two more swift cock ups and I'm walking off the course after losing the 11th hole to complete a 9 and 7 humiliation.

He didn't outplay me. I just forgot how to hit a ball. it was truly, truly awful.
