Even with a pitch mark tool many folks don't know how to ease the turf back into place.

Someone did post on here with an attachment some time ago.

So perhaps a good idea for an article in Golf Monthly?

I don't think I have seen un-raked bunkers on here yet- that really gets me, in addition to most of the things already mentioned.

This one is over-rated. It's a hazard so you shouldn't expect a good lie and an easy out.
If you just learn to expect an awful lie then you won't get wound up when you see the ball, accept the shot it'll likely cost you and move on. Even the best bunker players in the world only have a 60% up and down success from greenside bunkers.

What you say is true and to be honest quite a lot of the time my ball plugs anyway so it doesn't matter ;)! What I am getting at though is the ignorance of some people who just don't feel the need to rake a bunker, even if the foot prints are 10 yards away from my ball it is frustrating because you are supposed to rake them so anybody who chooses not to is deliberately being a nob, or dam right lazy. I by no means expect a good lie in a bunker as it is supposed to be a hazzard but needlessly landing in someones footprint must annoy you as well- it is possible of course to get a bad lie in a raked bunker.

Fortunately this is very rarely a problem at my club.

I do hope you rake bunkers after you've played in them though...
