Why do some folk still hate Nike?

Lets see if next years Nike drivers have a cavity back in them!!! - you've only got look back at the Nike classics such as the Sqwood and Sumo to realise that they cant do anything without it being revolutionary or in your face. Basically IMO its got no class - its all hype and that's why I wouldn't buy it - I cant take them seriously as a Golf brand

Some interesting responses forum folk, and as for anybody objecting to the word hater, calm yourselves,it's nowt personal! I would be nice to hear from some other Nike fans if there are any on the forum?

Sounds like you are describing Taylormade Mark! ;)

On appearance alone Nike & taylormade drivers just look cheap & tacky compared to say Ping or Titleist. Got to say tho
Nike pro Combo irons look pretty good.

Good man! The Vr Pro is a sweet looking driver in the flesh,I got one on a whim and so far I really like it,the fairwars are also pretty sweet!
Only time will tell if it replaces my Titleist however! :)

It's a slightly irrational thing for me. I like their clothes and have several Nike shirts and a cap, but I just can't bring myself to even try the clubs, as in my mind, "that's not what they make". I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the clubs, but to me, I don't class Nike as a clubmaker. Don't hate them, just don't think about them.

I have gone as far as to allowing myself to trying their golf balls, and I do like the 2010x or whatever they call it, so maybe I'd be surprised by their clubs, but I just can't see myself trying them.

Didn't you play Nike VR cavity's?

I've no issue with nike other than I bought the VR split cavity forged irons and after hitting my new cg16s I have realised just how hard they were to hit. I'm not sure how many people look at the Maltby playability factor ratings but my Nikes had a really poor score, even blades were scoring better

Love them or hate them, their clubs will suit someone and their clothing is some of the most comfortable and best fitting

I like nike clubs, the VR driver is great and looks pretty good, the sv wedges are very good aswell. I think the new nike gear is even better than previous incarnations.

I miss my old Nike VR setup including the tour bag which looked the dogs danglies. Maybe once the tm white headed thingies are chipped to death and looking a tad grubby (I can't see them lasting more than 2 seasons max tbh) then I may well go back to Nike

Thanks for the comments Gibbo,I am glad Nike have some supporters on the forum!

why do so many golfers still shun this brand?

do so many?

I admit I haven't played Nike - I have played a set by each of Dunlop, Wilson, Mizuno, Callaway & Taylor Made over the last 30 years; that there is no set of Pings (was literally a toss up with the Wilson blades), Cobra, Nike, Clevland or any of the others wasn't a concious decision against them.
There also seem more on here who shun (or more!) TM than Nike from the posts!
