US Open 2025 - Oakmont

Since we are condemming people.....throw them out of the club for.....throwing clubs, slow play/not letting people play through, not raking sand or repair divots, swearing, coloured socks, not buying rounds of drinks, changing shoes in the parking lot.....there's no end to the sins committed by golfers!!!

Not buying a round. That’s the biggest and baddest.

Mate of mine, retired Chief Inspector, got more money than he knows what to do with. He’s minted. And he is happy to tell everyone.

The reason he’s minted? He never puts his hand in his pockets. Tightest bloke you’ll ever meet.

His nickname in the cops was Crime. As in ā€œcrime doesn’t pay.ā€

I like that one.

I "kind of" fit into that one though. I don't like people buying me a drink, so everybody knows that if I want anything I'll get it myself. If someone buys a drink for me I've got to find a way to buy them a drink as soon as possible......I don't like "owing" people a drink......and there are always a few people who get the reputation for never buying a drink but will let someone else buy them a drink. Saturday, evidently someone who rarely gets drinks for others bought someone a pint and it's been going around on the Whatsapp group that he actually bought one.

Another dull us open leads to another dull winner. Taking nothing away from JJ but when it's an average pro who's just got across the line as opposed to seeing one of the top boys (your rahms, Rory's, Scotty , Xander , Brysons) it just gets even more boring (for me anyways) id much rather have seen Adam Scott win than jj, he will be another wydom Clark who won't get near another major.

The positives is he will get in the Ryder cup team and hamper the USA like the year Clark won.

Kudos to you for staying up and watching it though.

I actually thought the opposite about it being dull, thought the closing stages were ridiculously tight and made for great viewing.

If you play a course that has different characteristics to the norm, it will throw up different leaderboards - I'm all for that rather than seeing Scottie dominate on courses in his 'back yard'

Couldn't stay up past 12 unfortunately, but that's a cracking effort on a day that gave up precious few birdies to birdie the last two holes and be the the only man to finish under par. He seemed like a nice guy when he was runner-up at the Players, so fair play to him. šŸ‘šŸ»

I think that's a harsh judgement on Spaun @PJ87 . He nearly won the Players this year, this wasn't a fluke. Comes across as a nice guy, I'm happy for someone different to win. If it's only a small pool that keeps winning 😓.

I went to bed during the rain break, the final leaders were not those I was expecting to see. Scott and Burns 😳. Scary back nines for them.

In what way was it dull ?

And why is Spaun a dull winner - was great during the players

Looks like he had a heck of a night with his kids just before the final round as well and played some excellent golf

Great final day and with a 5 over front 9, going onto win showed resilience and just how well he played the back 9.

Oh and did anyone mention he uses a L.A.B. putter šŸ‘€

I thought it was riveting by the end. A ton of players around the lead, a real endurance test.

I wonder how many lockers were destroyed last night? So many players will be cursing and thinking "what if"

Well done to JJ. Only man under par. I do believe he'll be a Brian Harman type major winner - but hey, he's got one in the bag! I do have to say that I really didn't enjoy watching the golf at Oakmont all that much. To me it was just a sea of green. I never could figure out which hole was which. Probably it's stunning at the ground level, but it didn't make for a great watch compared to Pinhurst for example. Or any of the Open rota courses for that matter.

Personally I just find major winners who take until their mid 30s to win a major a bit dull. We won't see him challenge for a major again I reckon

Like Danny willet

I like to see someone win and be the next hot shot, like spieth and Scotty

Does Adam Scott require as much condemnation as Rory has received in recent years for his absolute "bottle job" of 8-over for his final 13 holes?
He has had only one top-5 finish in a major in the last 10 years and it is 12 years since his one and only major win.
At 44 years old, is it pretty much all over for him now?

I don't believe any of the above. He remains a good player in my view. I just don't like to watch him putt.
