The Whisky Thread

It's a long journey for you guys down south but well worth it. Where are you looking to visit next time? Outer Hebs?
Great collection there Fragger. Was this trip prompted by the "Megga Islay & Machrehanish Meet" some years ago?
At this precise moment 3 years ago there were a group of us overnighting in Tarbert to get the early ferry to Islay the following morning.

Promised myself that I’d go back and took my carer with me

Lovely place,

Next trip could be Harris / The Uists or possibly The Shetlands,

Now which one shall I open tonight 🥃

What’s your thoughts on Finlaggan?

I’m away to Ord Distillery on Tuesday (singleton) for a wee day out 😀🥃🥃
That Finlaggan is a beaut. Bottled especially for the 2023 festival one of only 780 bottles.

Lovely peaty taste and a stunning and very pleasant finish.

South West Lewis and Harris are lovely get the Harris ferry [not Stornaway one]
Shetland is a big long journey, Orkney is much nearer and great for the ancient sites Fairly flat and verdant which was a surprise.
PM me if you want more info. I have done a 12 day north to south trip of the Hebrides

just had this delivered....tasted it when I was doing a tour of the distillery earlier this year and really liked the oak smoke character which was a nice contrast from the phenolic smoky notes you get from Islay malts (which I like).....nice to have a variety in the cupboard!!

Ended up with some visitors tonight, so cracked open a 2000 Dalwhinnie, absolutely amazing dram, not a cheap dram but absolutely A1 😀🥃🥃
You should try Pinwinnie whisky , it was distilled by Inverhouse in Airdrie until 1985, the bottle comes in a purple velvet bag, lovely stuff if you can find any. (y)

Opened this last week, really good dram, just a splash of water releases the smokiness, it’s certainly ful bodied 😂🥃🥃

I know it’s been done to death, but a couple of ex servicemen, 88 and 87 yr old have a whisky night every Thursday. There gave tipple is an 18yr old glenfiddich.
Anyway the branch chairman went around two weeks ago. They told him he was a heathen because he wanted a splash of water in his whisky.
