I agree. And I’m optimistic we can hang around like Villa did last season but I’ve had a lot of disappointment as a Forest fan so I’m also trying not to get too carried away 😆
Got to enjoy it while you can! Some tough games coming up, you'll know by Jan if you're in with a shout for Europe!

This is how I feel. Ask me again in January if I think we can do it.

Priority one is the magic 40 points as soon as possible. Then I can start properly dreaming!

Not sure he has ended anyone's career? Maybe he has beaten the odds?

Yes, his foot yesterday caught Palmer on knee. But, only after Martinez had put the breaks on with his left foot, and tried to use his right to stop Palmer. No force in it at all, and Palmer was absolutely fine.

I see him as tenacious. He is committed to the challenge, he won't shy away. Sure, every now and then it will be mistimed. But, I don't see him as ever trying to be nasty and intentionally trying to hurt someone.

Complete opposite to players like Garnacho and Rashford of course. There was a moment in game yesterday where ball was hit high in air. Garnacho was closest, but he stood stationary about 5 yards away, absolutely no intent to try and win the ball. Therefore, Chelsea end up winning it after it bounces, and led to Neto's chance where he dragged it wide. If Utd had more players with the fight of Martinez, I reckon we'd be miles better off simply by winning more balls and 50/50s up front.
That's why I used the word potentially. I have no problem with hard tackling defenders, Vidic and Stam were those for you in the past, but Martinez has a reckless streak to him that is dangerous, imo.

The mighty Rotherham Utd may have recently broken our away duck (1st away win in nearly 2 years) but we still can't win in the FA Cup. We haven't beaten a league team since 2013 and now can't even get to the 3rd round as we aren't a Championship team (if we ever were!)

I was once at a Man City v Notts County game when we were “Liddle Citeh” and everyone’s favourite second club. Me and my 12 yr old daughter were sat with the County fans. During the second half and big bruiser tapped me on the shoulder “ he said “ that Danny Tiatto, I want to kick his bloody head in, but if he was in my team I would have his name on my shirt”.
Teams need players like Tiatto and Martinez. It shocks me that some flair players have no heart when it comes to doing the hard side of the game. Keane hit the nail on the head when he said “” I wouldn’t want them in the trenches with me”. Having said that. I wonder how the new gaffer is going to instill a competitive instinct in some of the players. You can organise teams, but you still need players to do the “ dark arts”.

Has Forest got a tough run of fixtures to not look forward to. I always think that however clubs get through them it the difference between challenging for the top four, mid season safety or a relegation battle.
That said I cannot see Forest imploding.

At a glance they still havent played many "top 4 clubs". Obviously had a great win at Liverpool and they have played Chelsea but I think that's it?

Still so many games to go though! Nothing is out of the question for any side at this stage

It’s going to come to a bit of a busy period now with some clubs having to play a few of the bigger teams - but I think it’s the old cliche - no easy games now.

It'll be tough for the new manager to instill that battling instinct into several players. Some players are born to fight, and love that battle. Some players are much more mild tempered, and to be honest I think they get a bit fearful going into a 50/50 against a fighter, maybe worried about getting hurt themselves. I'm not sure you can change that too much, as it seems to simply be embedded their nature. Can I see Rashford, for example, bursting every blood vessel to win a ball at all costs (fairly) for the new manager? Not really, but we'll see. Maybe Amorim is a magician.

I liked what Roy Keane said yesterday. He said it it shouldn't take liking the manager to give everything on the pitch. He may have not liked the manager, he may even have despised the manager, but he still didn't want to let him down on the pitch.

When talking about nasty pieces of work, funnily enough my mind didn't go to someone like Vinnie Jones. My first thought was Ben Thatcher, as I vividly remember that challenge where he led with the elbow on Pedro Mendes, knocking him out and putting him in hospital. I'd say that was a challenge he was definitely lucky to avoid a red.

End of November and then December looks tough.

Arsenal away after international break. Then in December (among others) we've got City away, United away, Villa at home, Tottenham at home. It filled me with dread when I saw it when the fixtures came out. But right now while we're flying, I say bring it on!!!!

(Like I said, ask me again in January!:ROFLMAO: )
