He gets picked because he style of attacking cricketer is what the coach wants

People may not be a fan of the way he attacks too hard and it means that he has too many low scores but it’s got sweet FA to do with golf
So it's just pure coincidence that his dad plays golf with Rob Key? Crawley has the worst record for an opener in test history with over 2500 runs. He's stealing a living.

Funny that you think there is an anti Somerset bias and people only get picked for England because of the county they play for but get on your high horse when someone jokingly states that someone gets picked for a golfing reason

So what part of him being the worst opener in test history with 2500 runs gets him picked?

The part that when he gets it right he can destroy a team from the start - the 189 against the Aussies was incredible as was the 200 plus against Pakistan

I personally wouldn’t play him and since 2023/24 he hasn’t scored enough and he is another player that they pick based on what they maybe can do as opposed to what they do - same with the likes of Bethall , Smith , Bashir

He certainly destroyed a team right from the start of both innings, shame it was his own.

Is it just me, but does a day/night test match just seem wrong ?

And Ŕoooooot.... !!!

Not sure I like a day/nighter in an Ashes series. It just doesn’t feel right.

That said, the inclusion of it in this series was doubtless scheduled because the Australians thought it would give them a free hit. So it would be absolutely fantastic if we were able to give them a bloody nose.

If feels like a gimmick, unnecessary in this instance.

Lovely to shut the Aussie's up. It was ridiculous to suggest he wasn't world class because he was missing a ton there. Cricket is so stat driven, it's silly at times. If he had 4 x 99 scores would that be worse than 1 x 100 and 3 x 0?

Another frustrating day watching England that 6 fer for starc was one of the easiest he will ever get one good wicket in there the rest just absolute gifts

We really should be where we are with 4 extra wickets

Will Jacks at 8 in a test match is laughable, especially if he's being picked as a bowler when he barely bowls for Surrey. I'm assuming he has a low golf handicap.

Really enjoyed the cricket this morning. But I see now what others are saying about the TNT coverage. The presentation and punditry is largely awful.
It makes you realise how good the Sky coverage is, especially the presenting team/pundits, plus the extra bits they show during the breaks.

Despite being very annoyed about how we batted in the 1st Test, and our continued insistence with Z Crawley at the top of the order, I was up at 0400 this morning... again I was considering going back to bed, but glad I didn't, still some better decisions to be made, but I thought overall it was better, it was good to see some defensive shots being played! Crawley & Brook need to improve their game management, Crawley got away some some silly ones early, but then played really well and I'm sure he'll be annoyed with his soft dismissal. I don't think Brook needs to be as aggressive as he is, his dismissal was poor after getting himself in, no need to him to slash like that as he did.

0400 tomorrow to hopefully see Jofra & Root smack a few more, then hopefully Jofra can send down some rockets.

Lets just concede the series now to the Aussies and come home.
We are embarressing ourselves now.
Play entertaining cricket by all means, but a 5 day test match is just that...not a one day match.
We could also prepare for the conditions insteda of pretending we can just rock up anddo them, thats just arrogance.
