Do you tho? Hyundai and Kia are similar prices , Kia offers 7, Hyundai only 5.. just what Kia offer

When I bought mine I was looking at a similar Kia and the price difference was very noticeable.

With my previous Peugeot warranty extensions costs went -year 4 139, year 5 £179, year 6 £225 (from memory).

I have been told by various garages (and brands) that the 7yr Kia warranty isn't a full warranty at year 7. It diminishes through the warranty period. The Hyundai 5 yr warranty, is apparently a full warranty up until the car's 6th birthday.
My VW extended warranty which was to extend the van warranty to 5 yrs, was sold by VW as a full warranty, but lots of things are not covered under "wear and tear"

Shouldn't have to be an option tho. Manufacturers should back their build quality . That's what annoys me..people who don't take out the option get stung with the costs

The vauxhall I had was poorly made. The car itself (not the EV side) fell apart..was so poor. Wouldn't ever recommend a stellious made car to anyone
Your sample size of one isn't really statistically meaningful.
I'm not saying Stellantis cars are good - never had one - but just pointing out it's possible you were unlucky.

We once had a Ford Focus, back in the days when the Focus was thought of as a brilliant car.
All sorts of things went wrong with it.
But that doesn't mean all Focus's were bad - their reputation suggests we were just unlucky.
Probably an example of a "Friday afternoon car".

Well considering I'm a member on the old vauxhall FB group and forums they are full of stories of poor build quality.

I may have been unlucky but compared to some I was blooming lucky

Stellious don't have a clue what their making and their apps are appalling

The wiring loom for the abs for example they refused to admit it needed a recall so just waited for it to fail then repaired them (on massive back order) the issue was caused because they built the wiring room so that it rubbed on the rear suspension so when they fixed it they rerouted the wire so it didn't rub.

A known fault they would rather let fail than own their mistake and fix

My comment was mainly about cost i.e. Taking out the extended warranty works out cheaper

The offer comes in the post so plenty of time to way up the odds.

If you are someone who sells at the end of year 3/4 you have not paid out for something you will not get the benefit of.

BMW app is playing up, keeps stopping the charge and I have changed it to charge on demand .. and it keeps changing back ?!??! So the app has been starved of network access and let’s see if it stops cheesing me off.

After the recent update, BMW is a bit wonky and irritating. Twice now it has stopped smart charging on Octopus. Had to re-register it last night. Now working again. Octopus will ask you to remove and reregister the car. Here is how to do it.
Sorry to hear about the issues here following the BMW car software update. I can see some conflicting schedules in the device log and the best thing to see if we can get the integration working as it should be would be to perform a de-authentication and then re-authentication.I can see this was done previously but if you are able to attempt again, it is sort of like a refresh so will hopefully help allow Intelligent to control the charging. To de-authenticate your device, please follow the below steps.
⦿ Click the profile button in the top corner of the app’s dashboard.
⦿ Select ‘Intelligent Octopus Settings’.
⦿ Scroll down and tap ‘Disconnect Car’ and confirm.
⦿ This will disconnect your device and log you out of the app.

Once this is complete, you can then go through the onboarding process again which is detailed below, don't worry, you'll still be on our Intelligent Octopus Go tariff.
⦿ Tap the ‘Devices’ tab at the bottom of the screen and tap ‘+ Add Device'.
⦿ Select 'Electric Vehicle' or 'Charger' (depending on your compatible device).
⦿ Select your EV and charger make and model.
⦿ Read and accept the tariff terms and conditions.
⦿ Login to your EV and charger portal.
⦿ Complete a short Test Charge.

Once re-authenticated, please ensure there are no limiters or schedules in the vehicle or charger app that could withhold Intelligent to take control.

I disconnected the app then went through hyper volt app OVO app wanted to interfere so I shut that down. I looked in the car and changed the immediate charge times settings as well .. so we will see.
Too many things want to decide.. the decision is mine not the software or the power company.. they just have to give me information and I will decide. Life is simple .. my way 👍

If you do this do you lose your cheap charging as OVO charging is based on their control no?

Yeah I think so but I don’t charge a lot so it doubling to 14p is not as painful and given it still works out massively cheaper than petrol I will persist.
I find the constant demand on my information intrusive and opening me up to security issues.
I may choose to bin OVO .. but we do have a huge amount credit. Which I completely disagree with

The credit will transfer with you

May I suggest eon drive? It's 7p for 7 hours a night. Between the hours of midnight and 7 I believe

Anyways there is no smart charging, just dumb charging

That would half your driving costs and you don't need to give them control of your charger

A month in with our new Mg4 trophy 64kw - love the extra range over the very dated Zoe 50kw 23000 miles in seems to have around 170 miles

Downside free charging on AC 6.6kw per hour over Zoe 22kw - time for the wife's work to install DC chargers so I can use the 135kw speed 🤞

I am just fed up with the lack of Octopus/BMW integration.. So just going to move to dumb charging.

I dont know where the problem is.. There have been software updates to the car itself, the apps, iOS18.. not sure when did the relationship get reset. It is frustrating.

Now i have a new problem... Octopus cant find my meter!!!

Could that issue be linked if they can't find your smart meter it sends a error about the charging?

Worth reaching them on X to see what's going on with the meter , see if they can see it

Does that mean you have been on estimated readings for some time?

Worth checking your account.

I am with OVO and it took them nearly 2 years to get my gas one to work and send them regular readings. It still does not communicate with the in house box.

No idea… I have had a smart meter for a good 6-7 yrs now. I had a smet 1 and that was replaced with a smet 2 a few years ago.. it suddenly can’t go missing.
My sparky was burrowed under the stairs yesterday to run some cables.. he could not have knocked it off 🤦‍♂️

The European Union has just decided that they are going to tax China EVs.
No idea what it will do to pricing here. Are left hand and right hand drives produced/exported independently of each other?
I mean, with for example MG or BYD now being more expensive in France, will there be an impact on our market here?

I'd be staggered if the UK doesn't follow. China are looking to kill the competition, it's how they operate, via state subsidy, fewer rules etc. The tariffs are there to prevent that from happening, keep the other mfrs in the game. North America has done this, the EU have followed and we will surely mirror them.
