Total cost was about £10 for the 36kwh. Once I switch to Octopus, that should become about £3 per charge. So if I charge every night of the month, I am going to see a leccy/fuel bill of £90 instead of the £200 of diesel.
What is your monthly mileage?🙀
It costs me about £65 to fill with diesel and I get about 550 miles before I need to fill again so by my reckoning you must be doing almost 2000 miles a month 😲

I know our petrol bill went from £200 pcm to £20 for charging and then put £50 a month into the fuel account to cover if and when I fill up the big car .. always money in there now. Covers car washes

Since electric doubled and fuel went up my fuel would have been £300 pcm and charging is now £40 a month .. well it's not due to shift patterns it's less and more but average £40pcm and still £50 for the big car cuz we hardly use it

@Mudball this is what my stats look like

Battery was 41% last night

It says that long because it registers when charger turns on and then not until I unplug but that was 3.5 hours at 9p

i m trying to sign up on Octopus. It does everything, except the test connection. Keeps saying plug in the car...
I am not sure where the problem is... is it a Charger setting or a Car setting..

Here goes Saturday trying to find the answer.

If all else fails go onto just plan go

However have you checked your car is compatible ? Because your charger isn't

You have to start a normal charge I believe and then it will learn and take control of the car

Car and charger both listed on the website as part of the sign up process.

The logs at octopus end say

In the charging logs we can see that there is an error coming through which states that the vehicle location is missing.

I looked out of the window and I can see the car is still there.. not sure why they can’t see it

Are they? I didn't realise you were one of these charges Screenshot_2024-01-20-17-12-37-07_903d05fe1ae9780ffdf8ae337b6c882e.jpg

If instead of ‘add charger’, if you go add EV’ then in the next step, it will ask for charger and give more options

That doesn't mean your charger is compatible, your car is , that's just asking your charger

The only 3 charges compatible are on that list I posted

Should say close and open all the windows, that’s believable, it’s what IT people say to get another hour of break time.

I had to stand next to the car while making the switch… finally looks like I have moved to Octopus Intelligent Go. It says it will charge tomorrow morning at 2:30am.
It has been a journey to get this set up. After faffing around for a long time, I cheated by switching on charging. Somehow octopus then made the connection.

Proof is now if it charges tonight

Personally now your on I'd just charge every single night 23:30 -05:30 and then do a charge like this once a month

Reading the last few posts does highlight how confusing it can be with the Apps and the chargers. We fittted a BG charger about 9 months ago, guy used to just plug in when he got home, never had a problem. Last week it stopped charging, BG technical said they couldn’t remotely access the charger to say what was going wrong, they suspected the WiFi was too weak. Also to download a different App.. ev.energy.Smart EV
We installed a TP link and installed the App which was a real faff… once done the App could still not see the charger, (but it could see the car and how much battery it had) phoned the App support who told me “faulty charger” they had to send me an email which I had to send to BG so i could get a replacement. We will replace it next week but it does make me worry about what will happen once the charger is out of warranty.

Woke up this morning expecting to herald a new era in our household’s motoring chapter.
Car plugged into the mains and octopus intelligent Go live ready to charge the automagically at 2:30. I would have it ready for a 7am spin.

It was going to be all unicorn milk and electric uplands.

Woke up to … er nothing. Car still saying 40% charged … and no clue what went wrong. There are no logs.
I am going to say that the German car maker would not let a Great British electric company win. In reality it might be a user error
