I am with OVO
Their normal tariffs are cheaper than Octopus but EV tariff is slightly higher (talking a few pence each charge overall)
To get the EV tariff you do have to have a smart charger which is recommended by them

I looked into getting an i-Pace, and couldn't believe the £100 a month insurance premiums (that was the cheapest with no extras). When I had a Golf R, my insurance was £30 a month, with windshield, and other cover.

My old work boss has a Tesla Model 3, and there's not a day where he's not on to them about some problem or moaning in a FB group. Great charging network, but QA isn't so great and after care isn't either. I seen an eye watering comment on a We Buy Any Car advert, about some guy who asked for a quote for his TM3 dual motor, and they offered him £21k for it. 3 years old. Less than half the price it was new.

Seems to me that any prospective saving over ICE is wiped out with insurance and resale value. Battery pack replacement would be my major worry on long term ownership. The same old boss who owns the Tesla, had a Nissan Leaf, and Nissan wanted to charge him £13k to replace the battery pack as he was only getting 80 miles out of it in the end.

Plus with the cost of electricity just now not showing signs of reducing, I'm not so sure I'd be keen on them. Love the power they have though. Either way, tensions and wars abroad seem to affect both liquid and electron based fuels so we're damned if we do and damned if we don't.

I’m not about to enter the “Would you, wouldn’t you?” debate again, as I’ve already set out my views.

But to hear from a dealer when delivering an Audi E-Tron Quattro today (very nice despite the 230 mile range) that a replacement set of charging cables costs £2k made me catch my breath.

Extortionate.

You might want to take a read of the 3rd paragraph from the link below.

It says I have to sign-up read. No thanks!

It was a sales manager at a main Audi franchise. I suspect he knows what he’s talking about.

Sorry. It basically says they strongly recommend not buying the car. It's brilliant mechanically, but dangerous to drive because important features are embedded deep into the menu system and very difficult to use when driving.

Just their opinion of course, but I've never seen them come out with such strong stuff before.

Why would the Audi website recommend a cheap charger that would invalidate their warranty?

For heavens sake, Bob. I’m only telling you what the man said.

For added context, the car was an Audi E-Tron GT Vorsprung Quattro. About £110k worth of car. I’ve just seen a single used Audi cable for that model on eBay selling for over £400. So it seems entirely reasonable that a SET of cables (you’ll note my post referred to a set, not a single cable) would retail at around the price this dealer mentioned.

In much the same way the Audi website is unlikely to spin a yarn, neither is a sales manager at one of their dealerships.

I don't disagree with you on the charger costs because leads supplied by main dealer will cost a lot more

However warranty wise is not an issue if you use another one

Most of the time you use tethered chargers anyways (road side high speed all tethered) and high % of home chargers are for ease of use

That said 100% Audi will be charging 2k for a set of their own leads ..
