I suspect he didn't.

But hidden within his post is a point that deserves discussion.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe EVs do actually have physical brake discs and pads in addition to their ability to use regenerative braking. In which case, there should be an industry standard requirement that the brake pedal MUST be mechanically connected to the disc brakes such that no software fault can prevent the driver applying them.

Unfortunately, brake-by-wire seems to be on the horizon. Plenty of articles about it on the internet.

I did. It doesn’t add up.

He couldn’t slow down from 30, but did slow down to 30 at a roundabout.

It would be interesting to know what physical impairments the driver had and whether they could have had anything to do with the situation.

The manufacturer will be able to recall the drivers inputs if they ever get the car back to diagnose.

Surely though mechanical connections also some times fail. What needs to be established is which option is safer then apply a standard.

You would certainly find that in a car park o_O .

I had ACC on a previous car. It is very good but you need to know its limitations, it doesn't see what comes from a slip road or look beyond the scanning zone. Once you understand those limits, it is very good to use.

Yeah I really enjoyed it. Tbh if today's experience dealing with vauxhall was the one I had since day one I'd be inclined to give them another go . Dropped it off at 10 by 2 it was ready only £120 for 3rd service .. even did the recall software update and inspected something i wanted them to check. Picked it up in 5 mins and was on my way

Even getting there "no electric hire car today but we giving you the managers car" before it's one electric car and that's it tough petrol. I'd always insist on electric because of the time it takes them to fix things with part shortage you want to hold onto that EV hire until they return your car.. 6 weeks they had it for abs fault because they couldn't get the part

But today was the experience you should get

So for all my slagging them off I have to say spot on today

They don’t have vans, what should they do, load up a couple of cyber trucks!

One I really like is this mobile EV servicers .. they have a fleet of mg5s and go all over the country servicing EVs on people's drives. Cars filled with everything needed

Sometimes the customer lets them charge their cars and they discount the cost from the service bill

Really good simple idea

It’s an estate, kind of reasonable.

Model3, Model Y, Model S -not so much. Cyber maybe.

And I can’t see Tesla using other EVs.

ACC is great until it encounters moron drivers.
I was doing 70mph on the M62 when a guy came off the on ramp and straight across the three lanes .
My car detected him and slammed on the brakes ( its not subtle) this put the lorry behind me right up my rear end and by the sound of his horn he wasn’t very pleased.

I would have seen what he was doing and acted accordingly but computers don’t think like drivers.

But you were there to take over? That's the idea isn't it. You take control in those situations

Having recently bought one had a bit of an 'oh no' seeing the article that insurance companies are putting up EV policies by around 70. Not just more expensive to repair but they spend longer at the repair centres due to lack of spares so hire car costs have increased.

Genuine question....
Just back from a 4hr trip down the M6 in the pouring rain...
Followed an electric Kia for about an hour.
His brake lights were flashing on and off very intermittently
I can't believe he was tapping the brakes that much and sometimes the lights were only on for a spilt second
Does lifting off the accelerator operate the brake lights or could there have been a malfunction?
Either way it was bloody annoying! :ROFLMAO:

Yes on my Hybrid X trail if I switch the regen button on it does that, lift and the brake light comes on… I don’t have it on much as the regen braking is annoying. 😁
