With the short days and early nights my golf has been hammered into touch with only weekends being available and even they are limited. As a result I've pretty much gone into pre hibernation mode of getting home and vegging out in front of the TV. I know I need to get out but I'm not one to walk for the sake of walking. I did enjoy a walk around the course hunting for balls in the summer evenings though but that's hardly an option now, or is it?

Recently got my hands on a nitehawk torch. Deemed the electric truffle pig for golf balls. When it arrived I discovered it is basically a well made UV/Blacklight torch so you could save a bit on the £19.90 price tag by hunting around for a UV torch.

Anyway decided to give it a shot over the past week. Have been out for a total of about 4 hours and have to say it is impressive! Buried balls light up like beacons and not a lot needs to be visible to help you see the ball. Have been in a few hot spots on my course and have found over 200 balls in the pitch black. 40 or so of these are premium level balls and another 60 or so are decent mid range balls such as the AD333 and soft feels. Best part is, it gives me a reason to get off my couch and have a dander.

If you are anything like me and enjoy the "hunt" I can highly recommend the nitehawk and the concept of search for balls at night with a UV torch. Shocking how many appear and the ones that would never have been found in day light add to the satisfaction. So hopefully over the winter I'll have been a bit more active and have the added benefit of a stash of balls that have cost nothing more than time, the cost of the torch and a few lots of AAA batteries.

This is really all just a cover for your stalking and dogging activities isn't it? :D

In all seriousness though, if I was to start wandering around the golf course at night with a specialist torch I'd likely get arrested..

Bottom nine mainly LD. That field beside the 10th threw up loads. There was even one stuck in the Ivy up the tree.

I immediately thought the 10th or the treeson the right of the 6th! If you had a pair of waders the river on the 8th would be a goldmine!

What're you gonna do with your new found ball wealth?

I have no idea. Might pour them all on the floor when I have enough and then dive into them like Scrooge McDuck at the start of Duck Tales.

Does trespassing come into effect at any point? Not entirely sure it would work around our place for the sheer amount of leaves...that and the fact the trees would be littered with Pinnacles and other such rubbish!

I walk my two German pointers along the end of a local course and Baldrick ( the male) finds lots of golf balls only trouble is they are mostly ***** balls, with 1 in 50 is a premium ball, the female is not the slightest bit interested in finding balls though.

I was once looking for a lost ball when a voice behind me said 'Your ball is under the branches of that big tree"
I looked around and there was a Black Horse looking over the fence.
I asked who said that and the Horse said "I did, you want to play a stinger shot with your six iron which should have enough spin to hold the green" The Horse then trotted away.
I looked over the fence and saw a Farmer. I explained what had happened and he said I was very lucky!
I asked him why and he said "The white Horse in this field is a crap Golfer"
