This guys fearless play on tough courses is surely going to put him in contention for a major win, I think the fella could go very close with the next two majors given his current form, It wouldnt suprise me at all if he lifted the US Open this year.

Current Form? He finished second last week but aside from that he hasn't had a good season. I would think he is well down the list to take a major, but if Todd Hamilton can win one, who knows?

I read that his fellow tour pros reckon he has one of the best short games going. I wouldnt be surprised to see him contend in the big events, but i think it will be a couple of years yet.

No your way of with that mate and obviously up for an argument today, Lowrys current for is excellent and he's no Todd Hamilton.

But what about the player who Lowry finished behind ?

Lowry is a decent player - took the good form from PGA and did well at Walton Heath but major contention ?! Long way to go for that yet

Not looking for an argument at all, just stating facts. So far this year on the ET he has had...

2nd
T15
T101
T74
T130
T56
T39
T72
T77
T95

He's only finished in the money 4 times in 10 starts. Are we talking about the same guy?

EDIT: I didn't say he was a Todd Hamilton, I was just saying if TH can win a major then anyone can.

Theres no doubt about it Lowry has hit form and took some great scalps winning the US Open qualify at Walton Heath, in form with his approuch to the game I think he can put in a good effort in majors.

Maybe he will who knows. Last weekend may have given him a kickstart this season but personally I don't see him as major material just yet. Still, it's all about opinions and we will soon see.

Well if your predictions as good as your Rory one, I think I'll put my money elsewhere.

Majors are a different kettle of fish- nice guy, decent player (even though his hands are so low:eek:) but I cant see him winning a major, in fact if he makes the cut at the US Open he'll be doing very well indeed imo

Whats happening to this place, you start a discussion and immediatly get attacked by the resident trolls who have got nothing better to do

But if the finishes that Hawkeyes posted are correct then he's hardly hit form:confused:
Not sure you're in a position to be calling people trolls either.

Could see him contending if we get a very windy Open, not convinced he will fare so well in the US based majors personally, have him down as a tough weather type of contender

Would have to agree with this as he seemed to be playing his best golf in the worst weather at Wentworth and the conditions were atrocious at Walton Heath where he won, definitely one to watch.

Shane is a bit if a dark horse for a major now but in a couple of years, maybe a decent bet. He has a tidy short game and good distance off the tee and won the Irish Open as an amateur in tough playing conditions. He is definitely going places.

Seem to remember Simon Khan was second at Wentworth last year, and went on to win the US qualifying at Walton Heath as well.

I think you need to be careful judging a player by five days good golf.

Hear what your saying but cant help think that we havent seen the best from Lowry yet, to me he looks like a player going places.....
