So that would apply to dash cams and door bells cameras, yes??If it were in this country, the club could well be held accountable and possibly even punished.
As it's written, if youre recording the public you have to register.
They same applies to people who have CCTV on their property. You need to have signs saying you have it, otherwise you could leave yourself open to trouble.
I was told that when I put CCTV up in my rear garden.

So not the same as a breach of privacy. I would imagine most golf clubs have some form of CCTV to protect their propoerty and have the appropriate registeration. Not many know, that any business that has any CCTV must be registered with the Data Commisioners Office. If the golf club is a Ltd company (or business), it must be registered.
No-one has signs saying "Ring Doorbell" so do they need to show it. I know the bells are easy to spot but is that what the law is asking? So that would apply to dash cams and door bells cameras, yes??
A mate of mine who was a club pro was informed that if he looked carefully at a specific groups cards in the next event that one of them would guarantee a 2 , the prize at this particular club was all the money that went into the pot was divided up into golf balls.
what they would do is take turns in getting a 2 , but to keep their scorecards "honest" if they scored a 4 on the par 3 , they would write down a 2 and then on the next hole which was a par 4 they would simple add 2 shots to whatever they actually scored.
They never bought a golf ball for years
The Pro spoke with one of the group who denied any wrong doing. The club then introduced drawn groups for the board comps and they seemed to stop getting 2's
Im just repeating wha the ICO says, in that any business that has CCTV must register with them regardless of whether they are a business that needs to register or not without CCTV .So not the same as a breach of privacy. I would imagine most golf clubs have some form of CCTV to protect their propoerty and have the appropriate registeration.
We had evidence of collusion when friends played monthly and weekly medals and stablefords so it is all drawn now.For Board Comps, I have no idea why on earth any club would not draw groupings. Sure for bog-standard medals / Stablefords I can well understand clubs allowing members to play with their friends (on for many, their only round and time visiting the club every week)….but for somewhat serious Board Comps? No way

What I was pointing out, is that legally now any business that has CCTV must register with the ICO for data protection, signs are no excuse. As with all things, subjects stretch out.Doesn't every golf club has CCTV and therefore signage anyway? Entry, pro shop, trolley park are the ones I think about. Who says you can't extend that t the outside spaces?
We enter via Club V1 ahead of the comp and it is randomly drawn a week in advance and players notified of their pairings. As all tee times are booked anyway it still doesn't preclude a player having their once a week fix in a competitive environment. We don't have comps both days every weekend so there is also room to book a social round with friendsIf a club trusts players in a medal or Stableford then should be the same trust
We have zones for our Capts and Presidents day but it’s more about helping people meet new members etc
I agree, but that is not what your first post implied.Im just repeating wha the ICO says, in that any business that has CCTV must register with them regardless of whether they are a business that needs to register or not without CCTV .
Exactly my point, as far as I can tell from a google search, it is recommended that signs are put up, but there is no requirement in law for individuals.No-one has signs saying "Ring Doorbell" so do they need to show it. I know the bells are easy to spot but is that what the law is asking?

Well this happened in australia so I guess you can settle down on your "its against the law to put cameras up" rantingIm just repeating wha the ICO says, in that any business that has CCTV must register with them regardless of whether they are a business that needs to register or not without CCTV .
