Busted. A Cheat Caught

Appreciate the intended result of the camera was achieved, having exposed the cheat(s), but am slightly uncomfortable at the thought that individual members can take it upon themselves to record all members, and my particular concern being Juniors, and having access to that footage. We sign agreements / waivers for recording / photos of our kids at their sports clubs to be used solely by the club following all Safe Guarding guidance - having a hidden camera recording everyone isn't part of that agreement.

The camera was placed 'without anyone knowing'. I know, and probably correctly, you will say this is the only place the member placed a camera without anyone knowing but no-one knows that for sure. The Club should have signed off on the 'sting', or include another line in their T&Cs about how anyone of any age can be secretly recorded at any time, anywhere within the boundary of the club.

Again, glad the cheating was exposed, not that thrilled that certain procedures weren't followed to achieve it.

I agree especially around the juniors. If we have any involvement (coaching etc) we have to get a DBS and the thought of a rogue camera filming everything doesn't sit right

See what you’re saying but the flip side is it could make it safer for the Juniors and members if it’s known cameras are installed at places on the course.
Like catching the bike riders damaging our greens !

The legal stuff has gone to far imo.

If he asked the club to “ sign off on the sting” my guess is they would say “no”
The cheats would still be at it.

Clubs are very slow reacting to stuff like this so as not to offend anyone inc cheating scum.

In these days.....getting worked up about this is a losing effort. More and more people are filming more and more people/places. Do I need to carry a sign around with me as I'm out and about letting everybody know I have a phone that could possibly film somebody? If I pull out my phone while playing golf (I do) and take a picture that "might" include somebody on the golf course, do I need to run around to everybody on the golf course and let them know I might have taken a picture of them?

As I am about my day....walking, driving, golfing etc, I just assume there is a small chance I could be filmed.....I don't care and in reality there isn't much I can do about it unless I just hunker up in my house and never go outside. Of course.....I could also just not do anything stupid like not rake a sand trap, or cheat at golf (well...nothing big anyway;)) or run around through the bushes naked. If I don't do anything wrong why would I care if someone takes my picture?

They didn’t put the cameras in the men’s showers.

So just settle down.

Can I please ask to see the footage privately first? The bushes behind the par 3 is where I meet the lady captain. Safest place as everyone assumes we’ve got a bit hot and sweaty playing golf, her husband is on the committee and I don’t want to get busted again.
