From the county set up?

Hee haw other than a county championship if you're lucky. Usually in handicap groups.

Oh I know, but I wanted to hear that from her.

I don't know anyone other than elite golfers that get any benefit from their county. Our Lowest player, who was on the county committee until recently happily admitted it to me and you can imagine how many free lunches he's had off his £3 compared to me.

One of my mates played County for years... always getting new logo'd kit, golf balls and trips away with subsidised (sometimes free) boozing. When the invoice for the annual club subs came out he used to goad us with emails thanking us for subsidising his social life! :sneaky:

Golf has a time problem.

It’s perceived as a game for those who can spare a whole day for it only. Travel, clubhouse plus round time can be 7 hours.

When golf solves this it will start to solve its other issues.

Never heard that... I was away all day for cricket, I started golf partly as I could get home just after lunch

Does not help when you have stores like affordable golf charging you £69.95 for a rated 7 out off 10 used FG TOUR PMP 50 degree wedge when you can buy it from clubhouse golf brand new for £54.99 and my point is a friend wanted to start the game up so just giving him pointers on what he might need in terms off equipment so he desperately wants a trolley so i suggested going the second hand market just in case somewhere down the line he just decides the games not for him and that way he`s not spent a fortune so he messages me about items he found on affordable golf knowing i have the same wedges he added them to the basket and i just tell him stay clear from them as there prices are ridiculous so why are these companies pricing people out the game he actually made a set up into his basket on items from that store so irons,wedges,driver,putter,3 wood, hybrid all second hand it was £810 from affordable golf i mean £810 they wanted for clubs i can get online via ebay etc for around £420 so £810 for the clubs then you get a trolley then a new bag then your gonna need tees, golf balls a towel all those bits and bobs then your clothing then maybe down the the line a watch or a rangefinder so you could be talking £1500 and if he`s right into golf then your talking club membership some places where i live £1400 for duddingston in edinburgh so there is 3 grand to start a hobby up so i understand why there is a decline its because we are all getting priced out and the worst culprits are Taylormade with a new driver every year so new driver new ridiculous high price like the SIM driver at £429 its just ridiculous now

I read that Scottish Golf have announced that all clubs will now get a rebate from our fees, how much is the question will it be a token gesture not worth the effort or will it be the full amount.

We should know by tomorrow
