Hi all,

I asked for tips on a solo trip last year and got some great responses, ended up doing Cyprus in November which was really great fun.

As a Christmas present, my dad told my brother and I he will pay to send us on holiday... provided we go together!!

Now, my brother is not a golfer (I'd perhaps go as far as saying he's anti-golf... but he'll learn) so I'm really looking for something slightly different this time around... I could pick somewhere that has decent golf, but the trip isn't solely for me... so I'd love to hear about the best summer holiday destinations that you've had that have been enjoyed by both golfers and non-golfers!

I have a feeling things like Turkey and Spain are going to be on the list...

Budget is £2k per person, not including golf - I'll add that on. I'm 30 and my brother is 26.

Look forward to hearing about your trips

Is it really going together if you disappear off to play golf and leave him by the pool? Are you playing by your Dad's rules? (Golfers should pay strictly by the rules 😁 )

For non-golf activities are we talking more relax by the pool, outdoor pursuits or intense drinking/partying/clubbing followed by recovery?

Well we'll be on the plane together!! In all seriousness, I wouldn't be golfing every day. Say we go for 10 days, I might play three rounds.
Do you like doing 'stuff' or are looking for a lying around holiday, excepting the golf of course 😄

Little bit of relaxing, little bit of sightseeing, I think. Won't be partying or clubbing but bars in the evening would be good. Still at the very early stages of planning so I'll put any ideas forward to him as well

I haven't played golf around there, they do have courses though, but how about Lake Garda? Fly into Verona, stay at somewhere like Bardolino, on the east side. We are going back to Lazise, my preference, this summer but Bardolino is the next town up and a little bigger. Beautiful area, you can get the bus to Verona, trip to Venice, multiple towns up and down the lake via buses or the ferry.

Very chilled, loads of cafes, bars, restaurants but no 'loud' nightlife. It's a really lovely area of Italy.

Sounds tricky with golf clubs

How much do you like spending time with your brother and are you both single?

Somewhere like Mallorca is an obvious choice. Culture in Palma, beaches, water parks, decent golf, plenty of bars and clubs, and you can head over to Magaluf to find some drunk British girls.
Barcelona has more sightseeing and better golf, but also has beach and nightlife. Lisbon, Vilamoura, Valencia, Marbella etc. are all places where you'll have fun. Spain or Portugal are really the obvious places.

Might be outside your budget, but I went to Florida in my early 20's and had a great time. You can spend first week in Orlando visiting the parks... Disney and Universal have great rides and themes like Star Wars and Avatar appeal to adults as much as kids. There's loads of water parks, the Kennedy Space Center is a brilliant day out. Then second week head down the coast towards Miami.

Obviously zero culture or sightseeing, but great fun and Florida is overflowing with golf courses.

The Netherlands is my answer for the most under rated golf trip. Amsterdam is an interesting city.

Plus I'm not a huge fan Spain or Portugal in the summer when it's super hot. Combined Madrid and Ireland during a summer trip a couple years ago and the time in Madrid was tough during the heat of the day.

Sounds like a holiday that you and your brother won’t do very often together and seeing as your dads paying why not do something really special.

Like travel to Norway up the coast from Bergen on the Hurtigruten ship, stop off at Tromso then go to Lofloton island and play golf at one of the most interesting courses in the world whilst your brother can enjoy the landscape.

Epic holiday.
