There's lots of time yet, but lets make sure we can make this happen. There's been a lot of work behind the scenes this week and to get a venue, date and an accomodation list out by midweek this has taken a fair bit of effort on Dodgers part. We've got a good course to go to, a good rate and very reasonable food costs at the club.It gives a wee target date in the diary to look forward to. There may well be some in and some out before the date, but lets try and get 16 folks on the tee at Goswick on the 20th Feb and make this happen.

Dave

I spoke with my boss today and he is off work that week and wants me to cover his workload.

I told him to get someone else... Take the question mark from my name Vig is IN :D

Damn you Vig my laugh was for Madandra, but you nipped in with your funny coment!

No worries Madandra, as has been said before on here, its hard to judge peoples attitude and how they come across purley from reading text.

I thought I had made a virtual enemy

Well you've made a good start Tony ;)

When are we ordering our kilts?

I am not aiming to take the golf too seriously, looking forward to it and whatever will be will be.

It's the bevvy that worries me as I have spent many a new year with 4 scots mates and "you guys" just don't know when to stop! One of them disappeared on new years day and we didn't see him again until 5th Jan, he turned up with a bottle of whiskey in each of his jacket pockets and looked as if he'd just come out of an health spa ?????

Better get some practice in

This has really taken off. I'd love to be there but the distances involved rule me out unfortunately.
I'd love to be considered if ever there is a return match held down this way a little, but obviously appreciate that the brave souls that are willing to tackle Goswick in February will get first pick.
Maybe I could be a Captains "wild card"...
;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Nobody should be put off because they think the course will be too hard as it is set up fairly for all standards of golf.
They let the rough get up a few years back and it was 3 off the tee if you missed the fairway but parties were taking forever to get round and saying it's too hard we wont be back.
Even as an Open Qualifier the course set up remains the same

I'd echo IM02's comments and in February there is next to no rough,we only have tough rough from June to early September then it always dies off so in the winter you can hit it almost anywhere off the tee....almost anywhere. ;)

Thanks for your comforting words - I'll just bring a boot load of balls. I so want to play a links!

It's finance that is the issue now, getting the time is not.
If it is at all possible (need some work done on the car) I will be there.

I have to admit I envy our northern brethren their ready access to some staggering courses at sensible prices; I am so looking forward to the gathering!

Only 8 weeks on Friday. Time to get some practice in I think ! It will be a wee target in the gloom of winter to keep the spirits up. It won't be long in coming round.

my brother has been doing the genealogy bit, we already knew that we were English, Irish, Welsh, Norman French and Tinner but he has now found that one of our family names has strong connections to the Orkneys!
