They get enough money - divert the funds somewhere useful and not to some offshore account.

It’s pure greed to ask for it but also pure greed with regards to merch and ticket prices too.

I don't have any issue with them being paid as it's such big business now. I do think they need to start paying the volunteers for this and the open given the funds being made. Yes, i'm sure all volunteers see it as a great experience but should the winner in the open be making a fortune if the event doesn't pay all first.

As I recall the last time this got to the "industrial dispute" level on the American side, the compromise was that a payment would be made to each players charity foundation or nominated charity in lieu of fee. Presumably this would be a very tax effective way of being remunerated.

Most players at the top level on the PGA Tour appear to have charitable foundations so this would have been a good way for them getting on the right side of an argument for once.

Pay 'em - they ARE the stars of the show which is for me is the greatest sporting event in the world - and then let them (the players) decide what they want to do with that money.

This faux outrage about them being financially rewarded is off. The Ryder Cup generates obscene amounts of cash.

Well said @Mel Smooth . I don’t get the outrage at the thought of players being paid for this.
Plenty businesses are making money out of the RC, why shouldn’t the players?
The RC is nothing like Children in Need, Comic Relief or Band Aid!

The Ryder Cup should be non-profit making.
The Players should be giving their time for free...giving something back to the sport that has made them exceedingly rich.
General workforce should be paid appropriately - Greenkeepers, Marshall etc etc
Any profit goes back into golf in some shape or form....
In a way it should be seen as a CiN type event.
Generating money for the sport not for the suits.

It should also be reasonably affordable, maybe comparable pricing to the Majors.

USD 750 per day as the lowest price is pure profiteering.

Supply and demand - they're sold out so plenty happy to pay that much
Which is way too much I agree

Making them compete for it would add more spice to it than just a flat fee. Winners take all / 12. Losers nothing.
Also, I think a shotgun start would work very well for Ryder Cup sessions.

I think that is fair. Fairer than low prices and a draw. Look at the Masters. Cheap tickets, but basically you will never win a ticket. If they were priced to the market, then at least you coukd decide to go, or save for it as a once in a life trip for example. Or the Open. A draw now shows prices are too low. There is no point claiming they are acessible to everyone due to low prices when you cant get one.

I don't really get why people care that much about the Ryder Cup. Watching other people play golf is......boring as heck to me.
I guess every sport is boring to some people, but sportsmen and women are often paid a lot of money because some people find it very enjoyable.
Personally I love watching the Ryder cup and pay money to do so in part.

I've played plenty of sports over the years, coached a fair few as well. As long as I have some influence on what is happening I enjoy it. The only pro sports team I actually root for are the Seattle Mariners in baseball. Even the last time I was back in the US....watching for more than 10 min or so is just too much....I have no influence on the outcome, so whether I watch or not is irrelevant. There have been a few guys I play golf with that can sit around all day watching test cricket......I don't get it.

Do you watch any sport then 🤷‍♂️
Almost nothing. I record things like Tour De France, Olympics, skiing (today in fact)....and just watch the small bits I'm interested in. I used to run a lot, but I'm NOT going to watch the whole 10k on a track....last couple of laps usually. TDFrance just the finish sprint or maybe a few minutes of going up a nasty nasty mountain climb. Again....I have no control on what happens so my interest is minimal. I have no problem with other people enjoying sitting around watching other people having fun playing a sport..... I also don't have anything against somebody eating liver or beets.....no way I'm going to eat it.

So a thread about the Ryder cup , and majors and any professional golf event I suspect will not be of any use for you then
