Went to Paris for the Sunday. Genuinely one of the best sporting experiences of my life and just an incredible day.

Considered going to Rome. Decided against it. Now hugely regretting my terrible decision! To make matters worse, I'm working 12-6 on Sunday. a terrible, terrible bit of planning all round!

Everyone's bringing them out now of course. I haven't watched this one yet, but I'm keen to see what Bullard scores as he's certainly a better golfer than Shiels in my opinion:

Difference between this vid and Ricky Shiels is quite large really 😂

Jimmy is what I would say most scratch players I know are like around the golf course. Most shots are tidy, routine pars, in control of it.

Rick is honestly closer to an 8 handicapper but I know of 12 handicappers who are less wild and have better short games than him.

How many times do you see Rick go down the middle (not talking a big slingy hook), middle of the green, 2 putts? About twice a round!

Yeah, I've estimated Shiels to be a 5-6 before but even that is mostly down to the distance he can hit. You might be right with 8. I've played against 7-9 handicappers at my club who hit it much straighter than him.

Bit confused with the Sky Sports Golf HD channel. Got it all being recorded but seem to be getting both a US panel and a UK (European?) panel. Is that separate coverage - or is it that they start with one then switch to the other. When watching live I seem to have the UK coverage - but somehow I recorded a US panel.

Sky are using the golf channel coverage of the build as well as there own

On Shiels and his game...last weekend when I walked off having finished my medal round with 15 pars from the back tees one of the young pros said that if I can do that again, and reasonably soon, then there is a chance that a change is setting in that could take my HI a couple of 'shots' lower ...and key to the round was that I hardly missed a fairway. Shiels does rather tend to spray it a bit - as if the most important thing for him is distance and not control.

Ok folks. Time to eat humble pie. Bus transport very organised. Shops and village very good. Granted not overly busy but still handled well.

Message back from my son, interested if you agree : 'Heck of a set up. Course looks really nice, some great matchplay holes. Merch tent the size of a supermarket but eye wateringly expensive. 100 different water and food stalls across the course, lots of water fill up points'

After reading about issues at the Solheim Cup re course facilities, it sounds as though there will be no issues in Rome.

He had a great time, hope you enjoyed it (y)

Ps to my previous post. Saw Iona in the Ryder Cup shop. As friendly as you would expect. Complimented her on her YouTube series and she was very humbled.
Not a patch on Jimmy Bullard and Rick Shiels but never mind. I jest of course. She knocks both of them into next week

I don't think it's as simple as that unfortunately- most of these courses he plays off the tips and the course rating will be 2-4 shots higher than par.

After the gleneagles video I had a look at the course ratings for the PGA course and it's 3.6 higher than par.

Which makes Bullards efforts round there even more impressive! He was basically playing like a +5 handicapper.

Yes, when Footjoy are some of your cheaper brands you know you're in trouble. Plenty of food places. Water fill ups very handy, was quite warm. Course looks bob on. Yes agree with all the above

The app is very good
couple of questions for you

do you know if there are any popup merchandise shops in the centre of Rome, or any fan viewing areas - I don't think there are but would be good to know.
what's the cost of food and drink like?
do you know if there is any standing room at the side of the first tee?

May have already been mentioned on here.

Watched THE CAPTAINS DINNER last night.

Thought it was great

Thought it was excellent - really enjoyable

Been watching a lot of the “how the Ryder Cup” was won and stories and watch alongs and also when you see some of the names on their “all time” it is very sad to see the likes of

Westwood , Poulter and Garcia not involved - they are legend and iconic for the European Ryder Cup and the fact it’s very possible they won’t be captains in the future is disappointing to be honest

Interested to know this as well. We’re in rome from Sunday (not for golf unfortunately) and I’ve already stipulated Sunday afternoon is Ryder cup watching!

Why would that still be the case? I thought PGA and LIV kissed and made up?
