Qualification for the European Ryder Cup team starts this weekend . Here is Iain Carter of the BBC's take on things:

He seems to have plucked Levy and Jordan Smith out of nowhere for his guess of team members. I'm keen to hear your thoughts on who might make the team from nowhere. Any left fielders you can think of ???

I think Thomas Detry might catch fire and take a run at it. He looks to have all the tools but hasn't brought them all to the party just yet.

I think it is impossible to say really, there are dozens of players with 'all the tools' on the tour these days, the standard is incredibly high. I wouldn't be surprised if Jordan Smith makes it but he has still to prove himself after a very promising start to his career.
