Random Irritations

I drive past an estate where the Union Jack is displayed beneath several bedroom windows and I wonder what the message is.
It's sad that there are dubious connotations.
Lots of places around Scotland where saltires are attached to lamp posts. No doubt some silly reason why.
In Aberdeen (I think???) when workers went to take them down they were threatened by some people.🙄

I completely disagree. Money isn’t the root of all evil nor in the pursuit of it. I know several well off people (some even have more money than they know what to do with it) and my god do they absolutely graft their nuts off to get it and maintain it. Yet they’re extremely kind, decent and generous people.

People are what’s evil period, not money, not wanting more because frankly we all want more. People that do bad things for money will equally do bad things for other reasons. They’re simply not good people in general.
One of my golfing buddies is obsessed by other members' financial status and privately researches this. He's keen to break into certain circles.
It seems I've played with a few "millionaires". I enjoy their company whilst being blissfully ignorant of their wealth.
My "circle" simply comprises those whom I like or those whom I'm ambivalent about.

Your circle sounds like mine. I like you of your a decent person regardless of income or wealth. If you’re a knob whether your or poor your still a knob and that’s who I avoid

Ah, strange folk those Aberdonians.

Q: Why did the Aberdonian, alone in a room, get angry?
A: Because he had no one to argue with.

Of course...but the saying isn't that the pursuit of money will result in 'evil' doings...clearly that's nonsense - rather it says that where there are 'evil' doings it is usually as a result of the pursuit of money. Of course there are evil doings that are not rooted in the pursuit of wealth (at least not obviously).

Just bought a new lawnmower.

User manual extends to 442 pages.....of which 15 are in English....and written in so small a font that I've just had to order a magnifying glass from Amazon.

I reckon some of the language options are for countries where grass doesn't grow.

The battery charger manual is 235 pages (9 in English).

EDIT...the battery manual is 207 pages (7 in English)

I had a similar problem with an Air Fryer, I phoned the company and got them to email the manual to me, funny thing was the emailed version was in the original font size and was very easy to read.

What sort of man are you? Reading instructions is not for men, just plug in the mower, put it on the grass and away you go. If in doubt, don't put any body parts near the spinning bits.
You obviously just have a plain old lawn mower.

Mine requires 3-4 different buttons to be pressed in a specific order and held pressed for a specific time.
Took me several uses before I learnt how to use it without needing the manual to hand.

"The phrase "money is the root of all evil" is a common misquote of 1 Timothy 6:10, which actually states, "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils". The verse highlights that the desire for wealth leads to temptation, ruin, and sinful actions, rather than currency itself being inherently evil."
"Essentially, it is the craving and idolatry of wealth—making it a priority over faith and morality—that is described as the source of many problems"

And this is what we are witnessing in the form of POTUS.

Indeed.
