Random Irritations

She's pulled the old chestnut killer card on me again.
Sat opposite me she glances at my phone and says "Look up soandso and check how much it is so I can order it for the grandkids for Christmas."
Quite rationally I say "You have your phone next to you, can you not do that?".
(I was engrossed in my newspaper at the time).
A pause.
"Do I tell you to wash your own muddy golf kit when you dump them in the basket?".
Well, no she doesn't, but support, me here chaps, that's neither logical nor fair is it?
Just point out that, technically, the washing machine does the washing, she merely puts the dirty clothes in the machine.

And then stand well back!

That would mean her teaching you how to use the washing machine first though. ;)

You know you’re wrong, even when you’re right ;)
Genuine follow up after I posted:
"Right, what do I do?"
"Just Google Boots, then Search and put in what you're looking for"
"" So what's this??"
"" Er, you've pressed Intelligent Golf"
"No I didn't"
"(Sigh) OK, so go back and Google Boots"
Pause, and huffing...
"So what's this about?" - shows me phone.
"Er, you just found Boots on Google Earth"
(Growl) "Stupid bloody phone!"
"Give it here"
"No! Show me!"

“Outright Hatred” is pretty strong and I suspect only applies to a very small minority.

I like to see England lose at all sporting events but live in England, like a lot of things about England, and 95% of my mates are English as is my missus.
I’m delighted about England’s World Cup qualification and the record set in doing so.
Now, come on Scotland. 🤞

No hatred from me. Only banter. Got Scottish family and a Scottish name, and grew up with a surprising amount of Scottish families in Millwall in the 70s/80s. 👍
Scottish name for me as well, as 2 grandparents were from Aberdeen.
Other grandparents from Rhondda Valley.
I can not possibly see Wales or Scotland as an "other" place as so many English people seem to do.
Sad for me though is, if I were try to claim to be Scottish or Welsh in those places, I'm going to be only a bit of a phoney Scotsman or Welshman, despite my feelings of affinity.

How do you know they don't?
Well, I don't, but seeing as these nutters are still out there swerving about over three lanes and at high speeds, I can only assume that word hasn't got to them from their counterparts that they may get nicked for doing so from evidence from these cameras. Not like those who are getting done for a few mph over the limits who are telling everyone they know about their misfortune and now the motorways are strangely, in general, full of people complying with the speed limits. Except for the nutters obviously, they can do what they want, for so it seems.

@Sid Rixon IV division of labour mate 🤷. If you don't like it, the solution is there. Do the washing for starters 😂
I'm not allowed to use the washing machine unless everything in the load is mine because I don't follow the random laws of laundry that MrsA follows.
I only use the "Automatic" setting because it figures it out automatically. Nothing of mine has ever shrunk, stretched or changed colour.
Laundry is easy.

Yeah I have never heard of that either. There was a big thing about this recently and was ruled by government that being a Walt whilst being annoying and quite frankly pathetic that it was not illegal and that Stolen Valor was not a crime unless defrauding people 🤷🏼

However a quick google shows!

The Uniforms Act 1894 criminalises any unauthorised use of military uniforms or any dress resembling such uniforms in a manner intended to impersonate armed forces personnel.

Bizarrely I don’t know a single person that’s heard of that and having that as an existing law shows those in power who ruled no such law existed or that being a Walt wasn’t a crime don’t know their own laws well enough.

There are loads of laws that are still on the statute book because they can only be removed by Parliament and the Lords and they do not have the time to discuss their removal.

I believe there was a Lords committee set up to review old laws to have them removed but probably some would have slipped past, at least you now play golf on a Sunday without practicing your archery without fear of being nicked for it.

That's what I would advise.
Quite a different thing to arrive at a place and drive round looking for "vacancies" signs. Exciting in a way, but not any point in deliberately ignoring internet use now.
We did book a place at Mt Rainier the day before by phone in 2000. That was by a public pay-phone of course. No cell phones for us back then.
Why use in e-sim if your mobile provider has no roaming charges?
