Played golf with a really nice Canadian couple yesterday, we had a drink afterwards.
We all had a beer but she ordered a tomato juice as well which we thought was a bit odd but took no real notice.
Imagine our surprise when she mixed the two together!
Apparently it is a Canadian thing, nowt so strange as folk.

The little Mini Cooper toy was due it’s MOT next week so got Mrs M to take it, sadly it failed on CV boot which doesn’t take too long to replace.

Garage has quoted her £406 total for the MOT and to replace the part!! The MOT is £54, the CV boot is Available to buy from europarts for £14! So that’s £68. Now I understand it’s for labour to fit but they want £338 for something I can fit myself in 1.5 to 2hrs. They’re not even a main dealer, I’ve told her tell them no thanks and ordered the part for delivery on Thursday and I’ll fit it when at home and take the car back for its free retest!

He took it back a few days later without doing any of the work and it miraculously passed (he told them he did the work).

It has since passed every time first time as I now get him to take it in.

It normally has a few minors on it but I never get them repaired and the following year test it passes with different minors on it.

I get my mechanic to service it regularly so I know if anything dangerous needs attention

Really pee’d me off as well because I knew if failed it wouldn’t be anything that couldn’t be easily fixed as that car is so well looked after I get accused of living it more than my kids.

We had similar issue with my big car. Need a new Glow plug so I though just replaced them all garage quoted £375. I bought 4 brand new ones from Europe Parts for £79 and fitted them in half an hour.

Two new tyres
New bulb
New sensor

And two parts of an exhaust

The guy who owns the garage plays golf with our swindle so we do get good deals with him

No point in using an e sim if your provider has no roaming charges as many don’t have any in Europe including ours. However further afield there are very few normal monthly packages that have no roaming charges worldwide, the providers will allow use to use your UK allowance at a daily fee but an e sim is normally cheaper.

I ask as we are going to Malaysia in January...

I would be surprised if your UK contact allows free roaming in Malaysia but obviously I don’t know. Normally there will be a daily cost which over the time span of a holiday mounts up.
If your phone is compatible, I found an e sim incredibly easy to use and sensibly priced but as yet I don’t know if I have over egged it on the data I bought - I suspect yes. Obviously it is only of use when you are not using hotel, restaurant, golf club etc wi-fi.

Thing is - I have no idea what an e-sim actually is and whether I can use it with my existing iPhone 11.
