Thing is - I have no idea what an e-sim actually is and whether I can use it with my existing iPhone 11.

Apparently that phone model is compatible.
As usual Google is your friend on this but Martin Lewis is a good trusted source here is the link

I'd never heard of them until I recently did two weeks in Japan. My out of contract phone was not compatible so got a new one next day delivery and got it e sim'd.
£15 did me for the fortnight.

Think most of mine have been sealed back - I was googling to get a replacement one

Then next time I go onto Facebook and the first group is recommended for me - “Ford Focus Ecoboost” nightmares - I really shouldn’t have looked

It’s done me well for ten years now and really only had one major issue when the wet belt needed replacing

But next year it will be replaced

So if the seals have lasted 10 yrs and that one split at the welded seam ( most likely), is it that bad?
Wet belts are a nightmare and a design nightmare.

Which size engine do you have? The problem wasn’t with all of them.

Think I told you all about the issues we had with ours a few years ago, we seemed to have no problem getting a replacement engine from Ford though, but others have not been so lucky.

And we had loads of issues with the seals on our focus of similar age. The previous model we had no issues though, so they definitely changed something

The seals haven’t last ten years - I have had to replace and fix most of the seals , most of them gone within 3 years

I have the 1 Ltr eco boost where the chain is in the oil - so got it replaced after 85k - £1800 to get that done , some have got a replacement engine if it went within 20/30k but at least mine lasted a little longer

Same engine as ours then. The problem we had was the return pipe off the turbo perished and split, then the engine’s gone.

Ah yeah we didn’t have anything that bad , the chain had started to split and get into the oil but we caught it in time

No idea why they thought a chain going through oil would last forever
