On the affordability, is there no clothing grant for school clothing available? £150 per child around here (Scotland) for those who can’t.

There are lots of ‘swap shops’ and similar for cheap uniforms but never heard of any grants.

Trust me (I’m a teacher), if there were no uniform, the clothes worn would be of much higher cost than any school uniform.
Demanding kids to wear a blazer seems a strange one these days, except perhaps, for senior students.

No idea my kids don’t wear any of those brands! My daughters prefer to shop in places like SHEIN where they get more, my son has no interest in brands.
The only thing they wear that’s branded is trainers but that’s because of me choosing that as I refused to let them wear footwear that isn’t quality or supportive, due to feet being so important and looked after.

As per the previous post State school! Like I said I can afford it but there’s plenty that can’t. But feels like the thread is being overtaken now maybe I’ll just go have a Rum

The irony is that many(not all) who complain about the cost and quality of school uniforms don't flinch at buying the latest replica football shirt for their child.

I didn’t buy my lad that either when he wanted an Arsenal shirt! £80 For a junior football shirt absolutely no way! I don’t even pay anywhere near that for my teams adult shirt but that’s the joy of supporting a non top flight team.
That’s why so many now buy the knock offs from places like DHGate. But that’s another thread that’s been done recently

I'm irritated by my general clumsiness. It's only ever at home, weirdly, never anywhere else.
I'm getting a bit sick of having to clear up spilled pints of water, bags of coffee beans, spoonfuls of tiny linseed, etc. on a once weekly basis.
With my cat-like reflexes, I used to pluck these things out of the air before they hit the ground. Now I just observe the slow-motion carnage unfold.

Just listening to an article on R2 about the new fraud/theft trend that people are taking advantage of. People are repeatedly complaining that their food delivery is late/cold/missing items/whatever and claiming refunds. One customer apparently claimed loads of times and got over a grand refunded. Another claimed their meal was cold - from a cake and ice cream company that didn't do hot food! The delivery firm automatically refunds them and the food outlet is left out of pocket. Must be so hard to run a small business nowadays.

I own a couple of small companies and the amount of people that book and pay online then try and claim they didn’t use the service or dispute the payment is ridiculous. We have a member of staff whose only job it is to take care of this.
We have even contemplated not having an online booking system but in this day and age you really have no choice.

Our cat deciding to bring in not 1, not 2, but 3 presents today!
So far today I’ve had to clear up a bird and mouse from the hallway, and just minutes ago catch a mouse it brought in alive in the dining room that he was literally playing Cat and Mouse with! Where were my kids when this went on! Filming him playing thinking it was funny
