is it Alexander Isak ?
The amount of money I’ve just had to drop on school bits for the kids. I swear each year the list given out by the school gets more niche and they add bits that aren’t required. Even to the point they’ve sent an email out stating if any child is missing any of the items fines will be allocated on the Parent Pay portal !!
I always make sure kids have what they need, but being threatened with fines and held to ransom of a kid so much as forgets to take something in has really wound me up![]()
Yeah but that’s my money I have to spend legally. This is just being held to ransom and using kids as a means of extracting money from parents big difference!Yeah, but just think how much you're saving on your multi-car insurance policy!![]()

This is pretty much the exact problem we have. All uniform has the be with the embroidery of the school. Guess where the only place to buy it from is? The school itself, no shop stockist just the school website or shop within the reception area! When I due to go to my next school at the age of 11/12 I had won a place to grammar school.
When I my parents received the school uniform and other kit list I overheard them having a long discussion about if they could afford to send me there.
The kit could only be bought in two shops in town both of which were the most expensive to buy any clothes.
When I was about 14 my parents rebelled and bought my school jacket from somewhere else and just sewed the badge on that they took off the previous jacket.
One of the worst things was that the school uniform was made from the least hard wearing material and totally unsuited to children's wear and easily developed holes in the elbows and knees.
The government are (have?) brought in a rule limiting the amount of branded items so a light at the end of the tunnel. This is pretty much the exact problem we have. They don’t have blazers only jumpers or shirts so you can’t even buy one and put the badge on. Even trousers and polo shirts have the badge embroidered onto them so you can’t even buy a normal pair of quality black trousers or shirt.
The quality from the school is crap but it’s priced at a premium, even the PE kit is done the same way so as not to give you chance to buy elsewhere. Its basically robbery as you end up buying more throughout the year as it’s such cheap overpriced garbage.

Just what we need...another dress code thread.......I honestly don’t quite understand the rationale behind school uniforms in the modern era, or at least to the extent of having badged blazers, sweaters & cardigans (do they still do cardigans?).
Why not black trousers, a coloured polo shirt and a sweatshirt? They can be sourced at a reasonable price from a number of outlets. It just seems anachronistic…
The falsehood behind it apparently is them wearing exactly what the school provide means nobody is singled out for being different! We’re lucky we can afford it but the biggest issue is low income family’s or single parents who struggle end up having to get “quality 2nds” from the school which are awful meaning other kids still end up getting stick because as we all know kids are horrible to each other.I honestly don’t quite understand the rationale behind school uniforms in the modern era, or at least to the extent of having badged blazers, sweaters & cardigans (do they still do cardigans?).

It should just be exactly as you’ve stated a pair of black trousers and a polo that can be bought anywhere for a decent price and will be a lot better quality than the school and then no parents or kids are left feeling like they’re poor. It’s really gripped me reading that email today before ordering it all.

Nope! State run secondary school.Private school?
Not if they are teenagers. All about the label you know. And those same kids will go home, get changed into whatever they have and then go out and play with barely comment on what their mates are wearing…*sigh*
Are these school clothes as expensive as the required fashions of the day?Nope! State run secondary school.
