You snob! Nothing at all wrong with service stations. They serve essential needs,as comfort breaks, a rest from the drone of the motorway and much needed refreshments.
How can you criticise them if you don't go in them?
Some are certainly better than others. We drive up to Scotland and back twice a year on average, so we've sort of pinpointed some of the nicer ones we don't mind stopping at now. Tebay and Killington for example.
Tebay is very nice but now over crowded due to positive publicity. Killington Lake is our stop off as it is very pleasant and also much quieter. It's good when you find a winner

As the saying goes, " Don't tar everyone with the same brush".Popping into Leigh Delamere a couple of times over the last 12 months and having to visit the facilities didn’t really show that
But the Costa was ok there
I rate Costa and Cafe Nero well ahead of all the others for taste. HID and I always choose taste before priceI’m with you on that regarding the coffee. Costa coffee is absolutely crap considering what you pay for it, Starbucks is ok but Greggs and McDonald’s coffee are equally as good and cost a fraction of the price so that’s where I go each time.
Unless of course there’s a Cafe Nero, because their coffee with an added Rapsberry croissant !!!!

Oh! I tried to use my card a few days ago but was told the system didn't recognise/use them anymore.
Didn't realise you were using a card I'm using the App on my phone, still works in shops and machines, card faulty maybe
