Random Irritations

Greggs are a total success story, bringing employment around the country, paying taxes. They've expanded beyond the simply pastie and sausage roll. Their shops are clean and consistent. They don't claim to be better than a farm shop or a butchers but they do a heck of a job. All power to them, and keep making your Belgian Buns 😋
Add being able to get a decent cup of tea and it doesn't cost the earth. Especially at a services.

One of the local Brit orientated bar/restaurants does a sausage roll, chips & gravy as a light lunch choice. They do a lovely Cornish pasty chips, peas & gravy. They have a decent menu, if you want a Brit-fix, but it’s not somewhere I’d visit through the hot (9 months) of the year.

Great for traditional Sunday lunches but not from April onwards.

Service stations have been ripping our eyes out for years. Greggs has helped reduce the pain for travellers, an alternative for those who want it. I'm not a coffee snob so I am happy to get a Greggs coffee over a Costa / Starbucks one. Makes a big difference if you are a family stopping for a break.

I’m with you on that regarding the coffee. Costa coffee is absolutely crap considering what you pay for it, Starbucks is ok but Greggs and McDonald’s coffee are equally as good and cost a fraction of the price so that’s where I go each time.

Unless of course there’s a Cafe Nero, because their coffee with an added Rapsberry croissant !!!!🤤

Greggs are fine and all, but if you live in the South East of England you'll know that Wenzels smashes them out of the park. I only go to Greggs if Wenzels is closed.
Debatable comment that! Basingstoke town centre Greggs and Wenzels are literally next to each other. Greggs always has queues out the door, Wenzels on the other hand always empty

There seems to be a huge magnet in the one at the services at Kinross, seems to grab my car every time I'm passing on my way North !
Got dragged into the one at Kinross a couple of weeks ago, was with a group staying at the Green Hotel playing both courses there over two days, had an hour to kill so went to the Greggs stand:
Latte and Lorne (square) sausage roll please, Sorry no square sausage today !
What 😳
Utter sacrilege, a Greggs in Scotland with no square sausage 🤨
Had to make do with crispy bacon instead 😋

Last time I have coffee at either McDs or Greggs it was horrific

But then it’s just from an auto machine

I have a coffee from a proper coffee shop all day

If I’m at a sevices the coffee is just something to grab in the go so Greggs or the Golden Arches is fine as it’s cheap and cheerful plus costa coffee is crap.

If I’m going into a town centre then it’s always a stop off for Caffè Nero to enjoy the coffee and watch the world go by.

MasterChef is back.

Will you be watching 😬
No, lost interest years ago. The series is too long with pointless challenges that appear to have no bearing on the results. The mass catering challenges (workplace, etc) are nothing like the fine dining that the judges require, the real kitchens in real restaurants are so false, the ex winners comments are ignored when the judges make their decisions. Apart from that...........

Forgot the bit about people being in the final when there are still a few episodes to go. You are only in the final when it is the last episode.

This is not unique to Masterchef.

And McDonald's is decent coffee at a reasonable price. Costa coffee is almost double the price and Starbucks takes far too long in the queue.

Thankfully don’t go to service stations

The Costa App has allowed me to get a lot of free coffees with them

We have a Starbucks at the new EV station which is 24 hour - decent at silly o clock in the morning
