Random Irritations

If not C of E, then what? Just curious.
A reformed congregational Protestant denomination - big words for a simple liturgical tradition. We are theologically pretty liberal. By way of comparison Church of Scotland could be described as a reformed presbyterian Protestant denomination (I think), and it’s (currently) a bit less theologically liberal.

Since you asked 👍😘

Mrs H put the clocks forward. Due in a comp at 10am. Alarm went off at 6:30am, 8:30 by her setting. So pleased.
These kind of stories make me laugh, I'd have thought it was virtually impossible nowadays. Not a single clock in my house and phones obviously update automatically while you're asleep. The only clock I had to change was the one in my car.

No microwave or oven? No regular clocks in your living room or one in your bedroom?

Quite easily done

Microwave we have a clock on but can easily not use. Some people turn them off completely when not used

Oven only if you use the timer do you need it

Wouldn't have a clock in the living room if it was up to me, wife wanted it for appearance

The microwave and oven certainly have clocks on them, but we've never bothered setting them or anything. No point.
Same as ours. They have never been set to the right time, are the only clocks in the house that don’t automatically update.

Kinda linked to recent posts, I turn the power off at the socket for microwave (& other things) when its not being used. Even the wifi box get the power shut down when we go to work/play golf etc

What do you guys do when you wake up? How do you know if it is 4am, 5am, 6am etc. Do you all have your phones by your bed? If so, do you all turn the sound off so that you don't get an email pinging through at 3am?

I never have the sound on my phone, ever, for things like messages or calls. The only time it makes a noise is the alarm to wake me up.

This would stress me out enormously  . I like clocks 🤷‍♂️
Surely it's more stressful having a bunch of devices telling you what time it is all the time? Haha. If I want to know what the time is I just look at my phone.

Don't even know how to set the time on the oven. It's been showing a completely random time on it since we moved in 8 years ago. Every now and then - usually months apart - and alarm goes off on it. I stop the alarm by pressing all the buttons at once. No idea why it does that, how you or on unset the alarm, and it's very weird that it only happens like twice a year. :ROFLMAO:

Firstly, yes, the phone is on charge sitting on my bedside table every night. I don't need to turn the sound off because it's never on. Permanently on vibrate. Also I have 'do not disturb' activated between midnight and 6 or 7am to prevent being woken up by a stupid WhatsApp message in the middle of the night.

I look at my watch!

My phone goes on a stand on my bedside table to charge overnight. It’s set to go into sleep mode so I dont get any notifications till I wake up.

Is your watch illuminated? Mine isn't so it is no use in the dark. We have a digital clock in the bedroom with LED lights. A quick glance and I know whether to groan, put my head down again or it is time to get up :D

It's pretty simple now days

Phones should be do not disturb at night ..

Auto schedules are easy to set up ..

21:30-06:30 for mine
18:15-19:00 for bathtime

Have one for when I'm nights that I turn the sleep one off and night one off

You don't get notifications but do get alarms.

You can set up rules ie your children calling you will always go through regardless if you decided

Haven't had a bedside clock for 15 years at least

We have an Echo dot with a clock in it as a bedside clock/alarm/radio/light switch(thermostat control etc. - it updates automatically.
The analogue clock in my merc updates automatically (possibly the most impressive piece of tech on the car).
